Heres my situation , in march or april im going to have saved up about a $1000 and things could go one of two ways. The first being that i go buy a bronco 2 4x4 for a $1000. The second being that i sell my 95 ranger rwd and go find a late 80's Toyota 4x4 truck for $2000-$2500. So what do think i should do?

I would not buy that toyota my friend has an '82 'yota pick-up 2wd 5spd and the frame is shot about a quater sized piece of metal holds what left of his back half of the truck to the front half when he got it at the beginning of '09 the frame had a small crack that we've tried fixing and it only gotten worse. Unless it has no rust on it then get it if it has one spot of rust bubbling through the paint have fun.:icon_welder:
but thats just from the one 'yota I've helped with

choose what you want but thats my opinion. :badidea:

Yeah don't get the yota... 3 kids from my school literally came out to see their trucks broken in half in the parking lot a few years ago... I had to laugh. :D

One of them was present when it happened... a bunch a people got in the bed and it jsut snapped! lol

Definitely go w the B2. That way u have 2 trucks in case one breaks down!

Go with the B2.

but the B2 would have a V6 and the Toyota would have a 4cyl...........

must have been some awfully rusted out trucks...... we beat the crap out of our 1980 Toyota..... nothing to throw a ton on it and drive it 20 miles of rough gravel road...... more than once we filled the bed with gravel till it was spilling over the rails and drove it that way........

make sure you find one that has no rust on it and has a 22r

They're both good vehicles. Find a rust free Toyota (they do exist) and you've got an excellent truck. Avoid the 3L V6 and find yourself a 22R instead (or go 95+ and get the 3.4 V6).

You would be correct.... All those years in alaskan winters on salt driven roads and daily driven back and forth on heavely washboarded roads will definately do that. Not to mention we were in high school, so one unless your parents are rich or took care of a hand me down ranger (like mine :D) you were stuck with a cheap piecer, and they weren't know to baby them either which had alot to do with it. But It was still funny as hell to see that guy that just made fun of you walk out to his truck that broke in half. :icon_rofl:

If its clean I would say get it, but I still think 2 is better then one, and the fore mentioned similar engine/driveline.

I would never buy any Toyota with the 3.0 V6. They are not real strong, have head gasket issues like our 2.9s, and are very expensive to rebuild.

Given the choice between a Toyota with minimal rust and a B2 with minimal rust, I would take the Toyota as long as it had a 22r/re.

Different view, It sounds like you are going to PAY for the Bronco and finance the toy. I personally would watch my cash-flow and stay away payments. I have never been caught short buy the time comes when you are glad to be out of debt and the 20 cents in your pocket is YOURS. :)

don't know where you're located but rust free toyotas are like a needle in a haystack, and that's even as far down as here in Oklahoma. I don't know if Japan just doesn't use road salt or what, but I've never seen any modern vehicle rust like a Toyota. Who else do you know that has replaced entire FRAMES on warranty because they rot out from under the truck?

The only advantage I can see to getting a toyota is a stock solid front axle...but they're old so the rust issue is going to be the worst.

All in all, the Toyota might be equally as good as the Bronco II at best, why spend 2-2.5x as much for something unless its 2-2.5x as good?

Nothing feels better than having a free and clear $1000 car. My Bronco II replaced a loaded, leather, 6 speed 2006 Mazda MX-5. Sure it's 16 years older and not nearly as fast and it doesn't rip through canyon corners with ease, but it was about the best financial decision I've ever made.

i say go with the b2. there seems to be more abundance of parts, at least around here and i personally think that the regular cabs on them yotas are extremely small for someone like me whos 6'4''. i just think that them older toy trucks are pos for the reason that they are all rusting junk buckets. i do like however the 4x market they have but wheres the fun in buying parts for you truck when you can fab them up and call them your custom own.
