Family has a junkyard. Ralph says he's got a few b2 in there one of them runs just has no rear drive shaft. Girl friend loves the look of a b2 with full width axles and an exo. My extended cab is a little bit long. Looking for something shorter. Bought the b4000 for trail use but have since fell in love with it and now consider it a family airloom.

Ralph says if I clean up the yard (8 hour day) hell give me a 9 inch and a Dana 44 plus the bronco 2.

Wondering how well a bronco 2 on full width does compared to a similar jeep? I've only ridden in one b2 and I liked it.

If I go this route with a b2 it'll be a trailor queen.

I'd never give mine up for a J**p.
Everybody i know with one struggles to pack even a modest amount of camping gear into the interior's tiny confines... They ride like a horse-drawn wagon, they guzzle fuel, they are not very well weight-balanced, and just overall I don't think they have that great of build quality (seems like they have far more electrical problems, rattles, little mechanical issues, etc.).

The upside is the aftermarket for bolt-ons is better (things like bumpers, body armor, etc.), though this is a non-issue if you have a welder (which you'll probably still build your own anyway once you see the prices aftermarket pieces sell for lol)

Of course if you plan to be trailering it, the better cargo capacity and ride quality of the BII might not be as important.

Buddy has a 4.0 jeep with 35s he gets 100 Miles to a tank. The more I look at lifted b2s the more I really want one.

yeah....i actually like jeeps. jeeptards....well it has its own demons.

but i would never take a cj or yj over a b2 dollar for dollar.

the tj and jk on the otherhand --- dollar for dollar....

well lucky for me that will never happen....i have never seen a jeep that cheap:icon_rofl:

Yeah b2's with full widths are just plain awesome. I'll have one one day.

Sent from my iPhone.

If you got a Jeep Cherokee, I'll trade you my 84 B2. I loved and miss my jeep, and after having the B2 offroad on a couple of extremely mild trails I found my jeep was far more predictable and stable. Wheel base, and width are a major downfall on the B2 unfortunately.

just depends...

a b2 with a 44/9 combo vs a YJ with a 44/9 combo, I honestly don't see where the difference would be UNLESS you link one and keep the YJ leaf... it all depends on the work.

if it's a 4.0 straight 6 jeep, I'd take that over the 2.9 for a trail rig...but the 2.9 will be fine.

For some reason I see a b2 with sas and a 4.0 maybe even a 2.9 giving a 4.0 jeep a run for its money.

it's all in the details/driver when it's a built rig.. You could build a d30 sas B2 to out preform a d60/14bolt TJ. I know it sounds crazy... but nothing about a TJ makes a d44/9" linked setup any better than a B2 with a d44/9" linked setup.

Granted a B2 will probably have leafs rear, even after axle swaps... but don't be scared of leafs either, they can preform quite well.

I think everyone's missed the point here....

A running vehicle plus 2 axles for one days work...? Id do that even if I didn't want to drive said vehicle!

Exactly even if I didn't like how it turned out I could sell it for far more than than 8 hour day. And hell sell me a 302 with tranny and tcase for 100$

in that case I'd build a 302 bronco 2 with d60 front and 14 bolt rear
on 38.5 creepy crawlers, fenders cut completely out
and exo'ed....

but it still won't be cheap to do it right. Good Johnny Joints/Hiems are expensive.
tubing is expensive, tires are EXPENSIVE, gears and parts to rebuild the junkyard axles are EXPENSIVE.

sure you can do a budget build.... but it won't be the same lol

The 4.0L I6 will eat a 2.9L when it comes to torque.

At the top-end they'd be closer, though I still think the 4.0L would edge it out (aren't they rated like 180HP or so?)

I've driven Jeep 4.0Ls... They start out from a stop real strong (this is great for crawling), but then lose a lot of their breath as the RPMs go up.
The Ford 4.0L is also the same way to some extent, though not as pronounced.

The 2.9's saving grace is even with 35" tires it's able to get about 21-22 MPG (@60 mph).

That would basicly be the plan. Idk about 1 tons tho. If I did go 1 tons he currently has a kingpin Dana 60 I can have for 300 and a 14 bolt for 200.

Idk if I would regear the axles iether. Just run a doubler for the crawl ratio.
