It might be close between an older OHV engine and the ('91+) AMC 242 HO. If it was an older cherokee, the 4.0 OHV would take it easy.
You're only pushing about 160HP with your engine, if it was the newer Cologne V6 you'd be more around 216. Stock 4.0 I6 is about 190-194 depending on how new it is.
But then you'd have to factor in how the vehicle makes use of that HP too, as different weight/transmission combinations are always a factor.
I think everyone's missed the point here....
A running vehicle plus 2 axles for one days work...? Id do that even if I didn't want to drive said vehicle!
The 99 would be the holy grail. Then you get the higher HP of the two 242 HO engines.
Mmm... I'm drooling.
There's way too many Y's, J's and X's to keep straight with a jeep. Best to just stick with the good O'l Bll. Far less mumbo jumbo to worry about lol.
yeah that's right... the 99 would have the higher HP, the Larger U-joints in the front shafts, the High Pinion, and would be the 2 door/5speed.
I have no interest in a XJ though. I'd rather have a LJ Rubi![]()
