Hello all!

I am currently having an issue with my 1998 Ranger XLT Supercab 6'ft and was hoping I could get some insight on this issue. My issue is my brake lights are not working. My taillights are coming on with the headlights like usual, but no brake lights. same thing is going on with the 3rd brake light on the cab. Not sure if this light is supposed to turn on with the headlights. The turn signals work as they are supposed to. Have checked all fuses and they seem to be in perfect working order. Have only had this truck for a little bit and any information would be helpful.

Welcome to TRS :)

If its not fuse 13 in cab fuse box then its the switch on the brake pedal
Fuse and switch power all 3 brake lights full time, its not key on/off power or headlight power, full time power direct from battery thru fuse 13(20 amp)

In 1998 there are separate turn signal bulbs at the rear, so brake light power doesn't run thru the turn signal stalk like other years

Look under steering column in the cab, brake pedal arm presses on the switch when pedal is all the way up
It will have maybe 5 wires, its actually 2 switches in one box
Not hard to change

Most likely it is the brake light switch.
