brake light woes

My brake lights flicker intermittently when the pedal is depressed and seem to come on better when the pedal is depressed harder. I checked for bad wires, connections etc at the brake pedal switch (all good there) and close to the brake lights themselves (good). Which wire is the ground in the brake light setup? Am I forgetting to check something?

It could be the brake pedal switch itself. They are simple devices but a few weeks ago mine went out. I just bought a new switch for about $10 put it in and it worked great since.

I would go for the conections to the switch, then the switch. Put a meter or probe light on them and go from there.

I already checked the brake light switch connection with a voltometer. It's good there. Any other ideas?
