Boss 302 Ranger Build Research

I want to build a boss 302 Ranger but honestly have no idea what ranger to use. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advise on what would be the best way to go. I'd like to use a 2005-2007 Ranger. Basically what I need to know is; can the 5 speed manual transmission that comes standard in the original truck be used with the 302, if not what kind of transmission should I use?

No the original m5od-r1 trans will not work, you could use an m5od-r2 from a early 90s f-150 though. Another option is a t-5 from a mustang.

Your V-8 swap question would be better and faster answered if you put it in the V-8 swap section below. No the stock trans will not last long at all behind a build 302, most use a T-5 and even then could be a maybe.
