Biggest Ford I've ever worked on...

is that yours? or do you work for a collector or something? 18L engine thats some serious metal there

I wish it was mine.

I work for a collector, volunteering any time I have off (whenever i'm not at my other job) to work on all this good stuff.

I'm saving up for one though.

Alot:icon_twisted:

although i would imagine that they are not as much as other tanks due to we made a shitton of them so more left?

Somewhere in the vacinity of 50k shermans were made during WW2 and shorlty thereafter. Many were destroyed during and after the war. Many more were scrapped, or used as range targets. Yet most WW2 vehicle collectors have one or more. They aren't that rare yet, but are very desireable and command a huge price. Tanks that were made after ww2 are much cheaper, especially if they are foreign.

Rusted out shermans that have been stripped of most internal parts, can still run up to around 100k.

Here's another Ford GAA in the parts yard. It's a prior range target Sherman engine, so it's use is limited to a select few parts. None of which are needed at the moment, and the oilpan is also cracked on this one, along with many other parts.

That's my size 13 boot...

That part that looks to be a small driveshaft coming from the side of the engine towards the front, is actually a small driveshaft. It has one on the other side also. They connect to two gearboxes which spin the belts for the cooling fans.

WOW, definitely gallons per mile. I hear an engine swap for the ranger coming on. (you might need a B/L)

i recognize that plane in the background , i know it was a plane that NASA used , i do not recall for what though

So does it have a piece of pipe over the gun to make the enemy think that maybe it has a 105mm? Any paint bullets?

I love that movie. :icon_rofl: (Kelly's Heros)

haha, to me with the size of those engines gpm should be gallons per minute! not gallons per mile. lol.
