Better stock up.....

Suppy & demand?? Well, just tell me one thing about that subject. Let's say for arguements sake that the price of gas goes to $10.00 a gallon all because of the damand for it. AND let's just suppose that for some reason that gas is no longer available for use anymore. Now I ask you, what is the BIG MAN with all that money he made over the DEMAND going to do with it now that he has no gas to sell to anyone? Burn it in his gas tank?

The whole damned problem is NOT the SUPPLY. It's the DEMAND for gas. AND until people are WILLING to sacrafice by cutting back on thier use of gas, you are never going to ever see the price go down no matter what you say. As long as the DEMAND for anything is there, the person or persons who have the product that is in DEMAND is going to GOUGE everyone no matter what you say about it. The ONLY way in my opinion to reduce the DEMAND is for everyone to be willing to do LESS driving & MORE WALKING instead of all the cruising around just because you can.

And then too there are those who don't care one bit aout anyone other then themselves because they have the money to pay whatever the price may be & they believe they are ENTITLED more then anyone else just because they do have the money. GREED is whats ruining this country of ours more then any other thing. And I LOVE to CRUISE as much as anyone does & maybe even more then some people do, BUT, I have to give up something in order to be able to afford to just have the basic things in live to live. Who else is willing to do that? Many may not be willing but you can bet before it's all over with they are going to be foreced to do it whether they like it or not if they want to survive.

VaGent: finally someone who gets it, and doesn't blow alot of hot air. I sure wish mjones could quantify some of his statements.

you are dumber than a box of freakin rocks....it is obvious by this statement that you believe anything you see on tv or read on the internet....

do a little more research bud.....you don't know jack..

Well, please, enlighten the rest of us.

The Bush family sold their oil company years ago....

With the key interest rate being lowered, it is driving the value of the dollar down (inflation). With the value of the dollar falling, it takes more dollars to pay for the same oil. That is the reason why the oil prices are going up.

Any jack rabbit with half a brain would realize that.

Supply and Demand is a GREAT way of putting it.....if someone has what MILLIONS of others want, then they can charge for it....

Fact of the matter is, people are NOT going to stop buying gas. If they don't do it today, they will tomorrow.

Corn based Ethnohl (sp?) is NOT the solution. All it has done is drive the price of food up because the farmers are selling to the Ethnohl plants instead of to the food production plants.....

No arguement what so ever from me about the value of our dollar these days. And YES, our fed. gov't isn't helping matters at all by doing it. That too is very much a large problem we are facing. BUT again, unless & until the AMREICAN people are willing to tighten their belts & reduce bad habits & I WANT I WANT I WANT it's just not to happen.

I ma by no means an authority on much of anything except paying high taxes but in my 65 yrs on this planet, I can tell you one thing for sure. I've never seen it this bad in all my working yrs (retired now) & it's just going to get worse before it's going to get better "IF" it does get better. I like a lot of other members on this forum have kids that are now grown & it really upsets the hell out of me to see the national debt, high prices & no outlook for much better in the future. It's sad as hell to see & KNOW what the younger generation is facing & the real problem it they have NO IDEA just how bad it really is or is going to be. And I am not a political expert but I do have enough sense to know & understand there are people in this world who look like nothing better then to see AMERICA FALL on it's face. And that you can take to the bank.

Try living on a fixed income with prices going shy high everyday & trying to enjoy just a little bit of the things you have worked so hard for all your working life. And some people want to bitch about the price of gas because they can't go wheelin' or crusin' on the weekends? I like doing that very much myself & enjoy going fishing & doing other things just like everyone else, BUT in this day & time, it's really hard to justify spending the money on the gas when you KNOW you have to eat & pay bills too. With gasa being so high right now, I go no where other then where I have to go & tyr to pick the shortest route to to it. You gotta do what you gotta do to survive.

A champange appitite & a beer income just don't get it done no matter how much you drink.

Well, for what it's worth, I disagree with your statement as to "WHY oil prices are going up". The REAL reason it's going up in my opinion is not because of the value of the dollar although I agree with the dollar being so "devaluated" these days it does take more or them to buy everything. But the REAL reason for high gas prices & oil prices is because OPEC has stated openly that they have "re-evaluated" the way they have been pricing the cost of oil & have decided they have been selling it far too cheap to everyone. NOT JUST TO AMERICA. Everyone all over the world is feeling the price increases these days AND if you think for one minute that oil price deals made behind closed doors doesn't go on everyday, then I have 10,000 gallons of gas to sell you for $1.00. It's LET'S MAKE A DEAL everywhere behind the scenes & the OPEC Nations are in total CONTROL of the dealings. OPEC even admitted to this on TV about 2 months ago. So as I said earlier, SUPPLY is NOT the problem as we in America are told everyday. It's the DEMAND that is driving the cost of a barrel of oil my friends. NOT the value of the dollar. The value of the dollar is only costing the USA MORE money which in turn affects all of US in AMERICA not to mention our DEMAND for it. When demand for anything no matter what it may be is no longer the driving force behind the pricing, then the pricing is going to go down because the demand is no longer a factor. Think about it.

true....OPEC slowing production and raising the cost is hurting us also...

I however am not one to bitch about gas prices, because I need it, and i'm willing to pay for it, it just gets to the point nowadays i don't even look at the price to fill my truck up. That's really the mentality of most albertans i think because we are such a wealthy/prosperous province, please fellow Albertans correct me if i'm wrong but this is how everyone working in mcmurray feels because every gets paid like 100 bucks an hour lol

I suppose i am biased, i support oil companies because i am working for one :D

Not everyone in Ft Mac is getting $100/hr but many are in OT. But thats not my idea of a good wage if one has to get a $500,000 morgage for a 2000 sq/ft house.

But I do agree with the fact that most Albertan's ( well, those of us who are riding the wave of the boom. There are many who are not. ) don't casre what the price of fuel is. Just fill'er up. Have to go to work.

BTW, here in Edmonton gasoline is about $1.15 a litre . Paid $1.20 this weekend in Saskatoon SK. Had to get home .

Haven't been on here in awhile...been working 2 jobs...maple season is in full swing.

I truely belive that there is alot going on that we don't know about that is driving these prices up, and that Bush is at fault for alot of it. Even if it isn't him and his family messing with things behind the scenes, he went into the part of the world that produces most of the oil and started trouble. (afghanistan, fine....Iraq...WTF??? .....and I was saying the same thing 5 years ago when we went in there) Now, they are trying to support israel, which will only further screw up the middle east region.

It's unfortunate, but we are getting the farm going again, and that takes alot of gas. I think we only have 1 diesel engine. We got a bigger Genset, which is good, because we only pay head price on gas. What can you do? you want to make money, and you work hard, but you still get screwed over.

As to the truck thing...as long as the unions aren't behind it, it won't shut down the economy.

i do .. buts its going to take something HUGE to make that happen .. if the price was regulated to lets say $2.00/ gallon then the oil companies would have to budget their money / find ways to save money to make a profit like most companies have to. but as it is now if something happens instead of finding the money they just raise gas prices and make the money

:stirthepot:im not going to work until until gas prices go down.... im sick of my job:bad:. i spend about 35% of my earnings on gas to go to work..... for a shitty job!:pissedoff:

Yeah, make them budget to survive, like they make us.

I about died when I heard the interviews with Exxon and Congress today.

"how much are you spending in "alternate fuel research?"

"1 million a year."

"Yet, you make 50 BILLION in profits a year"

"Just because you spend more money on research, doesn't mean it makes it any better research"

At that pointed I turned the TV off.

Exxon seems to think they are doing nothing wrong. Let them try to live on our salaries and pay that much for fuel.

What a joke.:buttkick:

Unfortunately the gas companies have a captive audience

and since there isnt really any alternative that doesnt involve buying new vehicles

I think we all might be screwed unless we or the government do something
