Nuclear (even fusion) energy is not clean because it produces effectively permanently radioactive waste that no one knows what to do with.
, It'll melt and then end up in the ocean and then kill us all anyway....I take that last comment personal. I research what I talk about. I do NOT watch the news because it is all a 1 sided bunch of BS. You yourself have not said anything besides California not having hippies and sugar cane coming from Hawaii....
Excuse my lack of knowledge, isn't there land down ther, and not just ice?

THERE ISN'T ANYTHING THAT WILL BE USED AS FUEL THAT ISN'T SOME KIND OF POLLUTANT. Is that hard to comprehend? Even your Ethanol is a pollutant when it is burned. You can't build every single power plant on a river so you can have water based power; there isn't enough rivers in the U.S.And thank you MAKG for explaining the pollution cause by Nuclear Plants for mjones, who apparently researches all his posts?

The only TRUE clean fuel is hydrogen, which turns to water when burned. I wouldn't want to drive a car filled with hydrogen, talk about a bomb waiting to go off
Koda, you seem to be just another California tree hugger. Climb back up in your tree and stop using the net because you are using energy...
I happen to live in the heart of COAL COUNTRY & have worked in the mines once upon a time although it was a very short peroid of time. My point is this. According to the "experts" there is enough coal to suppy power for the next 100+yrs just in this area alone. I have no way of proving that as truth but I do know this much for a fact. There is more coal coming out of the mines in W.VA., VA., KY., PA., & northern TN then there is sunshine going into those states. Coal is shipped to the loading yards in Norfolk & Portsmouth daily to be shipped overseas to other countries not counting what is being used to power the electric plants in these states. COAL IS DIRTY to mine, trnasport & use as a fuel & we all know that for a fact. Are we going to run out quickly as some people seem t to think? I personally don't see it happening in our lifetime but then again I am not an expert on the subject.
There is nothing that I know of personally that is known to mankind that will produce power without having toxic materials in it of some kind or the other. And I don't believe our technology is smart enough at this time to figure out what can be used cheaply & meet all the damands place on us all in today's world. People in America have been trying to figure out this answer for what (?), going on 200 yrs & are no closer to the answer then when they started.
I think that the best thing to do though is start to move twards "alternative energy", incuding wind and solar.
Wow FINALLY someone mentioned solar and wind power. I'm surprised this didn't come up sooner. Here's my suggestion on where to get electricity from: You always hear about these people who have solar panels on the roof of their houses and they produce all the electricity they need. All the extra electricty they produce and don't use gets sold to the power company. So they're actually making money every month instead of paying for it. If everyone had their own solar panels, we wouldn't even need power plants at all. Even if your own solar panels didn't produce enough electricity and you needed to buy some from the grid, the "grid" would be someone else's house that's producing extra electricty and selling it! It's kinda like the internet....the electricty grid would consist of everybody's solar panels connected together, and everyone produces their own electricty and buys/sells it to each other. Feel free to criticize and poke a million holes in my idea, I'm just thinking out loud.
