Better stock up.....

Yeah, but just think, by next February(2009) there will be digital TV in every, single home in America. So that means when your house gets foreclosed on(foreclosure rates at an all time high) cause you couldn't afford fuel(the whole point of this thread) for your vehicles to get to work, you will have nice, super clear TV to watch. The values of some in this country are really, really misplaced.

I stated this in another thread as well and agree :icon_thumby:

If they go on strike and aren't buying fuel for three days, maybe diesel prices will drop for those days since the supply will far exceed the demand.

Then I'll fill up both tanks for a change.

Oh, well, another excuse for some idiot to shoot at truck drivers. I've been driving for 28 years and here we go again.

If an O/O shuts down, unless everything is paid for, he goes broke really quick. A few shut down, most can't afford to. Then the ones who shut down make trouble for those who don't. Really stupid, unorganized buffonery. A real shutdown would cripple the country but it ain't gonna happen...

So if none of them buy fuel for three days, on the fourth they'll all need to fuel up to get the shit delivered to get paycheck, then what do the fuel prices do?
You got it, go up even more, as after three days of nothing happening the demand for goods is really high, making the purchase of fuel even more mandatory, along with the need for fuel...
cha-ching cha-ching oil companies....

JB Hunt actually is the ones who deliver to the Wal-Mart distribution centers....JB Hunt doesn't have warehouses...

FYI: JB Hunt is just one of the many companies that deliver to Wal-Mart, Werner, Swift, and not to mention Wal-Mart has their own company drivers.

Here's an idea: let's stop pumping out rugrats that grow up in dysfunctional families, and live off of McDonalds, Burger King, and Taco Bell, only to grow to be some pimply-faced cashier or bagger at some craptastic Super Wal-Mart, where they get knocked up a by stock clerk, only to start the process all over again. And let's not just blame the poor white trash, all these middle class, knucklehead SUV drivers with multiple children really piss me off too.

what the hell does having kids have ANYTHING to do with gas prices???? :shok::buttkick:

Umm...Oil companies create their profit margins at the start of each year as an estimate of what they thing will be sold creating an estimate of how much they make, If they make less then their estimate then its cited as a loss, if they make more its cited as a profit, even though both are actually a profit, just one didn't make their expected goal.

If no one were to buy gas for a day, or a week, or whatever, wouldn't this drive the prices of oil and gas up, as the oil companies will try to continue to meet their goals? It might be backwards thinking on my part, but wouldn't cutting back on buying gas cause the prices to rise as the oil companies will have to make up for their loss in mass bulk by raising the price to keep the same overall profit?

Anybody ever try to teach you supply and demand? The more people trying to use a finite (that means limited) resource, the higher the price for said resource. The U.S. is the largest consumer of fossil fuels. Let's not forget meats and grains, and the resources needed to produce them, too. Add in a bunch of hungry mouths to feed, and the next thing ya know, we're invading foriegn countries in an effort to get ahold of their resouces. I think it was R. Lee Ermey (The Gunny) that said "Pull your head out of your ass, you are the asshole in charge of your own destiny!" :idiot: :buttkick:

We gotta do something about the gas prices

I don't know if the strike will help much but good luck

anything we can do to help?

there's been talk up here that truck driver's are really getting pissed off due to the low sulfur diesel thats been coming out nowadays, apparently they are claiming that they get worse gas mileage then previous higher sulfur content diesel fuels...i don't know how true it is though.

I however am not one to bitch about gas prices, because I need it, and i'm willing to pay for it, it just gets to the point nowadays i don't even look at the price to fill my truck up. That's really the mentality of most albertans i think because we are such a wealthy/prosperous province, please fellow Albertans correct me if i'm wrong but this is how everyone working in mcmurray feels because every gets paid like 100 bucks an hour lol

I suppose i am biased, i support oil companies because i am working for one :D

:pissedoff: $100.00 HR? If all of us made mad money like that, then there would be no bitching, but of course gas would be like $22.75 9/10 gal. I am about ready to start producing "White Lightning" in the work shop in my backyard to drive on of course :icon_thumby:

Then why are oil companies reporting "Record Profits" already? And this was in February alone, hell every month it is reported? Bush is behind it, he and Daddy have huge investments in Oil, why not push the price through the ceiling before you are out and can't control it anymore? And for those of you who think he does not have the power to do this, better look at everything he has done that is illegal or immoral and does not stand by Americans standards. If any one else did 1/100th of what he has pulled, you would never be heard of again. It is amazing also that no crackpot has taken a chance at shooting him in his 2 terms.

yes well see where i'm at there's so many labor shortages, companies HAVE to pay people atleat 50-100 bucks an hour to just stay and work, they can't find people fast enough, Of course the standard of living is very expensive and is reflected upon minimum wage here, people at mcdonalds make 15.75 an hour, but in order to live here you'd need a really good paying job, as a 1200 sq. ft. home goes for 650,000+. It's not uncommon to see american license plates up here nowadays, lots of yankees are ditching the U.S and coming to work in Alberta.

Alot of people make the mistake of coming to Fort McMurray, unprepared, and thinking that this place is a land of opportunity, don't get me wrong, it is but people need to realize that where everything is cheap in cities (gas, groceries, bills, etc) everything is 2-3 times that in fort mcmurray, also it's best to have something lined up with one of the Oilsands companies before you even move here. Rent is ridiculous, a 1 bedroom apt. is going for 1800/month, that's if you can find one, people usually rent rooms out in houses for 800-1200 a month. heh

Gas on the other hand has fell slightly, we were sitting at 1.16 a litre, now its down to 1.13 a litre.
