Better stock up.....

talked to dad its the 1st, said all the companies including the big companies are shutting down unofficially

you both are on crack......they are not going to shut down.....

like said above, this is like the emails about not buying gas...

guess i'll have the cb on this week, see what the big trucks are talking about.

I would be willing to try anything to get prices down. It's crazy that this has been going on this long. But, I guess when the Commander in Chief has one hand in the oil profits, that's what you get.

unless EVERY truck stops, it wont be worth the trouble......companies like JB Hunt, Schneider, Frontier will continue to run......

the ONLY way for it to work is if the union gets behind it....

that has nothing to do with it...the federal reserve lowering the key interest rate is what is causing the value of a dollar to drop.....the more the dollar drops, the more the oil companies have to pay for a barrel of oil....the more they pay, the more you and i pay.....also, did you know that almost 50% of gas prices is tax?

....and who controls taxes?

Yeah, the government.

also, did you know that almost 50% of gas prices is tax?

and did you know that the average gas station only gets about .05 for every gallon they sell. thats why so many places have stores (and some have shops) in them. can't afford to only sell gas any more.

Even Companies like JB Hunt,Walmart and so on have Independent drivers. These are the guys that bring gasoline and merchandise to a warehouse in which it gets broke down and repackaged for the individual retail outlets. You think that 18 wheeler from wal mart went to a whole bunch of vendors picking everything and then brought them to one store? Your food is the same way. The truck drivers are who dive this country, without them, it would take a whole lot longer for anything to happen. Even UPS\FedEx and DHL and yes, occasionally U.S. Mail even uses them. I went to the Military base here in Tampa to pick up G.I.'s belongings (they were moving), a Jet engine, hummers and all kinds of military equipment to take to South Carolina and some went to Texas, and yes I do have a CDL License, Diabetes keeps me from the wheel now.

JB Hunt actually is the ones who deliver to the Wal-Mart distribution centers....JB Hunt doesn't have warehouses...

Yeah, the government.
all the taxes on gas is STATE taxes........so if you don't like the gas taxes, do something about it at a state level....

Yeah, but just think, by next February(2009) there will be digital TV in every, single home in America. So that means when your house gets foreclosed on(foreclosure rates at an all time high) cause you couldn't afford fuel(the whole point of this thread) for your vehicles to get to work, you will have nice, super clear TV to watch. The values of some in this country are really, really misplaced.

The 1st ?? Of April ?? As in April fools day ?? Hmmmmm.................

LOL !! Typical American thinking.

And proud to be an American.

With prices on the rise and the dollar value falling. What can be done? Yes, Diesel fuel is outrages and nearly caused me to have a heart attack when it almost hit $4/gal. I'm glad warmer weather is here and I'm riding the KLX more often now.

Besides this, I've got other issues closer to home. There seems to be a dramatic spike in crimes in my neighborhood. 3 vehicles were broken in and 1 stolen just on my street in just the past week. And I had the Ranger sitting for 6 days without moving. My neighbors thought for sure that my truck was next. I pray it don't happen, I love my Ranger and I got it setup just the way I want it.

It'll never happen. Not enough to be noticed. When it comes fown to it, those guys will deliver their loads so they can get a paycheck.

Seems like every few years I hear about a truck strike and nothing ever really comes of it.
