Is there a way to use the 2003 2.3l Ranger speedometer and speed sensor wiring with a 1997 explorer 5.0l v8 transmission speed sensor wiring?

It looks like they use the same sensors. So wiring would be compatible.

Double check my findings since I don't know exactly which sensor or which transmission you have. Go to RockAyto parts. Look up the speed sensor for both if those vehicles and compare the part numbers. You'll find the speed sensors under the electrical tab.

I only checked 2 manufacturer part numbers. It's up to you to be more thorough.

If by chance the '97 explorer is like the '97 Ranger there's a speed sensor in the rear output of the transfer case or transmission. if that's the case then that won't work but it really depends on what you keep from what... Since the '97 Explorer doesn't have PATS the engine control can be connected as a standalone system and you don't need the explorer dash and other random wires. Your Ranger on the other hand has PATS in the body module that takes some things and deals with it differently... not sure how much the Ranger system would care about not having a PATS engine...

I have a '97 Mountaineer here but honestly I haven't been under it since '19 when I drug it home so don't know if there's an output speed sensor on the T case...
