best turbo kit

I'm trying to get more horse power in my 1995 2.3l ranger but don't wanna swap my engine, is it worth adding a Turbo kit to this engine?. My engine is in great condition with low mileage. Past down from my pops to me just trying to do the best I can for it.
 
you will need the forged internals and low compression pistons anyways, might as well swap the whole engine..
 
I thought the pistons were not available anymore

Turbo it.. but don't buy a cheap ass turbo kit. If you want something good and reliable build your own.. easiest to do with your engine is swapping tc pistons/rods, bigger injectors, lightning maf and a way to tune.. It all depends on your budget...
 
actually you would just need a set of pre-94 rods(all forged up to 94), but get a set of TC pistons(or custom forged ones, your call), an exhaust manifold(i know where there is a brand new e6 if you want me to ask the guy), a turbo, injectors, and engine management(check out wilson racing MS as they have a kit for like $750, or just tune your ECU)

Just go for a 8.8 explorer swap with LS gears and disc brakes.
 
wait a sec, i thought the cranks were different starting in 88-89, is it true all 2.3s are forged rods until 94?
 
the main journals were smaller starting in '89 that was the only difference crank wise, all rods were the same
 
ah, ok then, thanks for clearing it up. so 98-01 2.5 rods and pistons will fit in my 87 block/crank then?
 
the 2.5 crank has a longer stroke and can be installed on any '89 or newer block since that crank has the small journals too
 
ok then, glad i know now, i'll stop thread jacking now
