I went into a local offroad shop today and asked about lift kits for my truck. They mainly sold BDS kits (or at least the owner preferred them). He says they have great customer service and a lifetime warranty. Originally I was thinking about skyjacker but I have not really heard much of BDS until now.
Does anyone have any opinions on the BDS kits? He said I could get a 4'' for around $700 with shocks...

Avoid.

BDS uses a plate-style extension bracket for the passengerside beam (limits your suspension travel and is also known to bust open your front differential housing).

thank you. I will definitely avoid

I have the BDS 6" kit in my truck and have been pretty happy with it. I was concerned about the pass side extension hitting the diff housing so I took the coil spring out and set the truck back down on the floor. Using the supplied shocks that come with the kit the shock bottoms out before the bracket hits the diff housing.

On another note I ordered a new set of Skyjacker 6" springs to see if they would be any softer than the BDS springs. First thing I noticed was that the Sky springs are about 1" shorter than the BDS springs.

I tried flexing the suspension on a big rock in the parking lot and it didn't seem to stuff the one tire any more with the Sky springs. Don't know if this was a good test of the spring but it was all I was able to do tonight. I ended up putting the BDS springs back in as I didn't fell like doing an alignment on my truck tonight. Have not decided if I will put them in or not :icon_confused:

Which can lead to a broken shock or shock mounts.

The bumpstop on the frame is what should be stopping the axle before anything else.

Yes I agree - was just using that as a test to make sure that it would not hit the front diff.
