Barney and L’il Bit

What

What engine is this going behind? Which gear ratio will best suit the tires? Or vice-versa.
2.3/5spd with 3.45 gears. Factory tires were 225/70r14 (26.4”) on 14x6 deer track alloys. 🤮

I have a set of 1992 take off Outlaw 2 clones in… 14x6.
I have a set of steelies of a 78 Ramcharger, 15x6, fit perfectly.
I have a set of take off 15x7 L’il Red Express wheels. But those need at least a 235/75. Either 1.1” shorter or 1.3” taller than stock. I “could” run the supposedly direct crossover 225/60r15…

With a 2.3 and 3.45 gears, I'd go ahead with the smaller tires. My 92 2.3 with 3.73s and stock 14" tires was just ok. I mean it had enough torque to spin on demand, but barely.

But only finding as a 96 H, T or V SL rating. My Super Beetle has 98s…

Not going to pay a premium for lower ratings.

I would go with the shorter 25.3 tires. The 2.3 doesn't have a lot of torque, but will rev happily.

No wonder the 92 rear bumper fit the 94, despite being completely different body styles. Per LMC, 1983-2011 Fleetsides are ALL direct interchange… 🤔

Did not expect plate captured bolts…
Will only need 6 of the 8 Grade 5 7/16x1.5” bolts out back. Leaving me the 2 I need for the radius arm crossmember…

Wish the C10 was this easy.

Yes, I reversed my K3500’s colors… 😊

Smurf blue frame and will have fire engine red springs/radius arms/front beams.

Yes, that is, in fact, a model brush and a quart can of oil based dtm enamel. It’s a truck frame. Protection first and foremost. Little brush gets into the rough areas better.

I would try a different 4" foam roller meant for rough surfaces. Tho it would probably use more paint.

For this small area? Model brush is about 4.5 cents. I bought the paint for $2.50/can on clearance, years ago. Have about 1.75 quarts left. Will use chip brushes on the larger areas. Visible areas in the blue, inner rails and crossmembers whatever is on clearance. Even have a quart of tan yacht paint to do the rear axle, left over from my late f-i-l, who had a 30’ double planked cypress over live oak cabin cruiser.

These 2+1 springs suck…

I thought you were going to do the whole frame with that little brush, not just under the bracket... Silly me...
