hey guys i straight piped my '97 ranger from the cat. and used a 2inch pipe thats prob about 7ft long. when my truck is coasting or droppping fast in rpm it back fires, doesn't do it every time but enough to make me wonder what the deal was. maybe is it some back flow problem? and i dont have an exhaust arm to make the exhaust flow to the side of my truck its basically pointed right at my bumper, any thoughts?

The straight pipe on my 00 4.0 never backfired. It wasn't very loud either but I still had all 5 cats on it.
