Anyone priced a 2-car garage or pole building? I was just wondering how much you could put a decent one up for. Maybe put one up on concrete footers and then pour a floor later.

Me and my father have been talking about putting one up, but haven't priced anything out... It'd be nice to know what one can be put up for...

Depending on what you want you can find the cheep ones for $300-400 those are the ones with PVC tubes and a tarp for a roof. I was looking into finding a military Maintenance Tent or something along those lines but there not cheep from what i have found $1500-3000. Im sure you could build a solid structure for less, I know there are kits for sale.

you don't need footer you can just pour the whole slab and build on top of it. it is called a floating slab, unless it is connected to your house.

Ive found in "the little nickel" the free add paper. With advertisements in there for garages to be built. They have all sorts of designs and types. I believe they do everything from foundation to shingles, can't remember the cost tho. But if you have "The Little Nickel" in your area take a look in there.

in a local paper here someone is want a 20x30 steel building to be torn down .. payment is you get to keep the building lol

what size will it be. we have a manufacturing business and make greenhouses. they are great for storage. they are made of galvanized pipe and use some aluminum and stainless steel hardware. there are many covers you can put on. the buildings are very strong and last a long time. if you want, we can get you a quote. we just need to know the size. email if interested at oehmsen@mtcnet.net

we have 5 on the yard. all of them have been up for at least 15 years and have the original covers.

Any local lumber store (Carter Lumber, Home Depot, ACE or ACO, Lowes, etc.) should have price sheets of common sizes. I know the Carter Lumber I worked at kept price sheet flyers at the checkout for customers.

Are those the glass ones or plastic stlyes?

I'm sure there are different codes to go by. Around here, you need a footer.

depending on the size, some need to be deeper then others.

750sq. ft and under needs 1ft deep footer for unattached garage.

over 750 needs 3ft deep footer.

they are plastic. the stuff is absolutely amazing. we can get either the stuff like a tarp or the ploycarbonate (hard plastic).

the buildings are a gothic arch design.

i don't know how many we have out Jim's way. we have a lot in New York, mainly on Long Island and we have a bunch in Wisconsin.

Here in Idaho about three years back we built a pole garage with a cement base for about $8,000. All the framing, metal roofing and siding, and cement included in that price. It was sturdy.

My Father and I put a pole building up at our old house. IIRC, It was inexpensive.

1). We went down to the local utility companies and raided there "used" telephone poles. GE let us have them, while Ameren charged like $5 a pole. Rented equipment to drill the holes. Set the poles with concrete. Filled the rest with dirt.

2). Dad waited for lumber to go on sale and bought the 2x4's, 2x8's, and the big 2x12" header board. Used green treat for the foot boards.

3). Just live with a dirt floor for now.

4). Dad also picked up on a deal while visiting family in TN. Metal siding facility would sell 2nd's at discount. Only thing wrong with the sheets was blemished paint, or lack of paint in spots, etc. The sheets were painted later.

5). We didn't build a peaked roof, but just slanted it with a pretty good grade.

A sliding door would add cost. But you can leave that open for now, if all you are looking for is shelter. This by no means includes a price, but can give you an idea on how to build it cheap.

My buddy just had a 4 bay 40x60 put up, it was around $17K for everything
