My dad gave me the reese hitch off his 92 ranger and I just tried to install it on my B2. I do not have a skid plate but the tank is in the way to get the hitch to fit. I know it will fit because its the same frame as my dads truck but his tank is on the side instead of the rear. I was thinking of taking some tubing and mount between the hitch and the frame. There is about an inch or 2 gap that I need to fill. I figured bolt the tubing to the frame and then the bolt the hitch to the tubing. I was gonna find some thick 1/4 inch tubing. I know its not the best way but if the hitch is suppose to fit the b2 I can "persuade" the tank to allow it to fit. Just not sure if it is suppose to fit or if the tank is suppose to keep it from fitting.

The tank is the problem. I have a BII specific hitch I could snap a pic of so you can see how it was originally designed. But what you are planning will work. How hard to you expect to use the hitch?

I only want to use it as a tow point. I wont ever pull a trailer with it. My back bumper is holding on for dear life and itll probably come off the next time im pulled from it. I must admit though Now the pulling my be some snatching because I am known to sink my B2 to the roof but not too often :icon_thumby: In a normal situation I would just buy a B2 specific hitch but instead of spending $120+ for a hitch I have one for free that I can put $20 into and itll be just as good.

I have modified hitches. I made a piece for one of my pickups to mount a hitch I got for $20. And it is safe to tow. So you can do it correctly and be safe. So I would say for $20 in metal, go for it. Let me know if you want a pic.
