Has anyone got some pics of the 351W installation? Specifically, I'd like to see header fitment, motor mount position and any body mods. I know I'll have to shave the seam in the trans tunnel, and I'll take out the heater core and weld in a flat firewall.
My main concern is tweaking the frame. If I'm running 11's or 12's at the strip, I don't want to weaken the frame. This may help me make my decision on what I'm going to do.

Here a couple of pics of the header output location.

On my car domain page the 351W swap pics start on page 4 if you want to check them out.

If you have any questions just ask.

And are selling for a price close to gold!! Paid $420 for mine. :icon_surprised: Think v-8power paid well under $300 when he got his a couple years back. :annoyed:

Yeah i only paid 299 if i remember correctly. Hey Dan, you ever get those installed? I have to go with a different starter then the one i have now.

Is the 351 going in a 4x4? If so those headers most likely aren't going to fit. I have yet to find a set that will fit around the driveshaft area. I have quite a few pictures, I'll try to get a few posted in a day or so. As far as the frame, you probably won't have problems. If anything make a few better crossmembers to help stiffen the frame rather than the rivited stock ones. As my truck sits it will pull consistant low 13s with no problems. That engine in a 2wd with a better suited transmission and proper gears would easily get the kind of times you are looking for. The frame really isn't too much of an issue.

L&L makes great motor mounts.

They sling the 351 nice and deep into the engine bay. I encountered one issue, though. On a 4x4 install, the oil pan will smack the passenger sides TTB mount *located on the drivers side engine x-member* A few well placed hammer smacks will clearance the oil pan to fit though :)

With the L&L motor mounts, there is no need for a body lift, or bending of the firewall seam. There is gobs of room to fit even the c6's bellhousing. You will still have to trim a fair amount of the heater box. If you want to do less trimming, use a non-AC box from a wrecking yard.
