I have a 1986 Ranger with a A4LD and a floor shifter. It has the electric shift on the headliner and today I just bought a manual transfer case along with the shifter linkage. My question is what does it take to put it my ranger cuz i think it takes a different auto shifter? also if it does take one, does anbody have one for sale? Thanks.

Ok, if I'm understanding this right....

You have an auto trans Ranger with an electric transfer case, which for that vintage often had the switch for the transfer case on the headliner and you got a manual t-case and linkage from another truck.

You will need (if you don't already have it) a floor shifter plate for an auto trans/manual t-case for the swap (if you're worried about looks). That is, both the surround and rubber boot on the floor and the metal plate under the carpet/vinyl. As far as the linkage being correct or not, the t-case shift linkage should have stamped on it the transmission it goes with. I have two that are stamped A4LD that I don't need (I really need one for an FM146). I'd have to look around, I might have the floor shifter piece (plastic trim and boot) still for the auto/manual, but I'm not so sure about the metal floor plate.

Yes thats what I'm doing. I'd just like to make it look stock. If the you do find the plastic piece with the boot, I would definately be interested in it if your willing to sell it.
