Went to the parts store a few days ago because a oil change was due in my 2011 f150.
Saw they had K&N Oilfilters now. I never Knew K&N started making oil filters until then.
So I figured why not...and bought one. Its a little pricey compared to the normal Fram tough guard or Ultra that i normally used.

Any thoughts or personal experances with the K&N oil filters?
good?....Bad?....etc...

I've used the K&N before and had no issues with it. Worth the cost.

I'd be 99% sure that whatever they sell is just a re-badged filter from someone else. Stick with Motorcraft.

I've run Bosch, Mobil and K&N oil filters before. No complaints with any of them and they all appear to be a better quality filter than Fram or STP. For a long time I stuck with only Motorcraft filters (and if I have a choice, that's what I get), but a lot of times you can get a deal if you buy oil and a particular filter. Of course, those deals never have a Motorcraft filter, so I kind of have to go with what I can. All the ones I use seem to have more filtering material in them than Fram and STP.

My $.02....Been running Wix 51515R s on my 2.3T s for years. Lots of good reasons. Anti Drainback valve,Fiber media, high flow, etc, etc. Google them and make your own decision.

K&N oil filters are NOT worth the price you pay for them. Period.

K&N oil filters are for people who think that they are racing on their commute to work. The holes in the filter media are bigger, letting more crap circulate, much like their air "filters". Great if you are making a few quick high RPM runs, not so great for normal driving.

FWIW I used to use them, then I noticed solid stuff coming out during my oil changes. Switched back to Motorcraft and that problem was gone by the next oil change.

I use fram. The only thing from K&N I am going to get is a new air intake, and tune around that,

i disagree, the filter media and valving is solid. the body is heavier then the motocraft on the ones i hacked apart and many have a nut welded to them. awesome feature...but really not necessary on properly installed stuff so...:dunno:

i would say they are overpriced a bit, and i dont use or recommend them over a motorcraft either.

but they are a quality unit.

I use fram. The only thing from K&N I am going to get is a new air intake, and tune around that,

but a fram is something i never use by choice....
