Yep but I figured it would turn into a heated debate like the last couple times it's came up. I wasn't sayin it shouldn't be put in. 80w gear oil should be put in the Mitsubishi transmissions but not the Mazda transmissions. It's been several years since I messed with a ranger trans so I looked it up in the manual. It says 83-87 use 80w gear oil. 88 on only use it in the Mitsubishi transmission.
Yes but that's an automatic. Last I looked, Ford manual trannys called for plain Mercon. I've used Mobil 1 ATF which is rated for Mercon and Mercon V both.My transmission is a 5R55E and the manual said it needs mercon v.
