Any new firearm purchases?

Picked this up recently, a Rossi .45-70 Govt. short barrel. Shoots very well, not for the faint of heart.

I need something like this.

I built the .458 AR because 5.56 rigs are super tame and easily shot by 6 year olds.. I got tired of it and wanted something that would really thump my shoulder ( as well as crack an engine block or transmission case after it's already ripped through a fender, inner fender, etc etc)

It certainly thumps ya more than 5.56.. but the buffer still takes the majority of the mustard out of the recoil.

I will say though.. I was taught that with AR pattern stuff (by military friends).. that you wanna have your nose right on the charging handle.. sniffin her deep. That's what I've always done and that's exactly what I did my first few rounds shooting the .458...

Bottom of the charging handle right on the bridge of my nose.. first shot..*POW*.. definitely more recoil.. definitely felt it on my nose.. didn't think anything of it.

Couple additional shots later.. and I started feeling blood dripping off my nose lol.

Either strike industries needs to chamfer the edges of their charging handles better or I gotta adjust position while shooting the damn thing 😂

My face just can't catch a break this year

There is a joke in there somewhere...

But the real question is...

How on earth did you get that window crank retaining clip shoved through your nose???

Propper cheek weld and a forward leaned (boxer's) stance, pulling the stock into your shoulder by the handgaurd, even a 458 shouldnt kick that hard. If that was the bottom edge of the CH that did that, I think your military friends are messing with you. Nose to CH the tip of your nose should brush the back face of the CH. If you're out of eye relief (optics depending) scoot it back some. Most diopter lenses sit directly above or just a hair forward of the CH for propper eye relief.
Edit: if you want thump, go to an akm, or an Aero M5/AR10 with something chunky. Even the .50 Beowulf ARs don't kick much.

I have my eyes on a nice looking Remington 1100... asking price on it is $550. Also have my eyes on a Romanian WASR-22 AK in 22lr. $459 for that one. I probably won't buy either of them... but they are sure nice looking.
