- My credo
- Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Picked this up recently, a Rossi .45-70 Govt. short barrel. Shoots very well, not for the faint of heart.
I need something like this.
I built the .458 AR because 5.56 rigs are super tame and easily shot by 6 year olds.. I got tired of it and wanted something that would really thump my shoulder ( as well as crack an engine block or transmission case after it's already ripped through a fender, inner fender, etc etc)
It certainly thumps ya more than 5.56.. but the buffer still takes the majority of the mustard out of the recoil.
I will say though.. I was taught that with AR pattern stuff (by military friends).. that you wanna have your nose right on the charging handle.. sniffin her deep. That's what I've always done and that's exactly what I did my first few rounds shooting the .458...
Bottom of the charging handle right on the bridge of my nose.. first shot..*POW*.. definitely more recoil.. definitely felt it on my nose.. didn't think anything of it.
Couple additional shots later.. and I started feeling blood dripping off my nose lol.
Either strike industries needs to chamfer the edges of their charging handles better or I gotta adjust position while shooting the damn thing
My face just can't catch a break this year
