After performing a search here I noticed parking brake issues seem to be common with rangers. Problems I've been having are with "Roberts" brand cables where the transparent plastic coating on the cable itself gets stripped off, bunches up and dramatically increases friction inside the casing leading to reduced force on the drums and eventually, failure of the pedal to come up all the way. Its so bad that I am putting off dealing with the park brake on my F250 as well until I can find something better (through lubrication and some abusive methods I've revived them several times). Even the local ford dealer is selling that brand and I won't use it ever again. Lubricating the cable makes no difference either when dealing with the roberts cables and I've seen the stripped casing happen with or without some oil in there.
Has anyone else noticed this problem, and do they have some suggestions for better brands of E brake cables? I should add, this isn't an issue with age or corrosion because the failure happened within a week of installing a brand new cable.
