Ok i have a 96 ranger 3.0 5-speed and i swapped a cluster out of a 95 explorer v-6 not sure which one though. But the problem im having is my tach is reading higher than it should. And its like the speedo it progresses as you build the rpms up. reason i know its reading wrong is i put a 99 cluster in first and teh temp was off which ive read is a known problem but i dont know why the tach is reading wrong. Maybe i beed to get a cluster out of a 96 or 97 possibly but i know they just read tach from the ecu. And ive searched and not really found any answers yet to this problem.

There should be a little chip that pulls out of the back of the cluster. Put the one from your old one in the new one and you should be okay...
