so i'm in my 95 ranger and the door ajar light comes on and the interior light won't shut off and the stupid annoying *ding ding* sound wont stop!!!!\

this problem happens at any given moment and it lasts from a few seconds to over an hour sometimes!!

has anybody ever had this problem before and what can i do to fix this annoying problem because i can't deal with this anymore!

I have to think it's your pin switch in the door sticking. Good news for you, all you have to do is spray some WD40 in the latches, let soak, and slam them a bunch of times.

sweet im getting on that right away i'll let you know how this turns out

I had the same problem and thats what took care of it. It'll come back eventually but just do the same thing and you're set for another long while.

so basically keep a can in the cab is what your saying...lol.

theres a write up in the tech library that tells you what to do

I just took the door apart and unplugged all the switches. I just turn the light on manually. I had mine get stuck one to many times and kill my batt on a cold day.

the newer trucks have a time delay so that after a few minutes it shuts off, even if the pin switch is stuck. saves battery.

Mine does that also, but at the time i had a batt that would test good every time they tested it but wasnt good. They finally decided one of the cell in the batt was bad but by the time i would start the truck and drive it to Advanced Auto Parts to get it tested the engine would warm the batt enough for it to test correctly. So technically it was the batt compounded by the stuck door pin leaving me stranded.

Also my profile prolly says I live in SC, which is true, but at the time i was living in MI.

Same problem in a 2002 Ranger. Done ! Thanks for the tips !

ps. ... Use contact cleaner, not WD40, if you live where it might get cold !

If WD40 doesnt work try some spray silicone spray...worked for me only had to do it once...that was 2 years ago
