Daily report

So me and RangerSVT head in to Clarksville today, nothing like going to the big town! Ate loaded baked potatoes at Whitt's Bar-b-cue, wow. Then we go to leave and the damn right rear brake hangs up again, a little backing and 4low without locking the hubs and we think we're good. HA Get to the I-24 to go to tire store so I cn try to get a half worn out mud gripper for a spare and we smell brake fluid. RangerSVT jumps out, does a chinese fire drill and finds the left rear smoking! Off into the grass under a tree by the oon ramp and access road, jack her up, get the tire off, dang things falls off the windup jack and the hi-lift, oh shit, here we go. RangerSVT jumps in after lcking the hubs and hitting the 4wd and spins the tires to use the front end for an emer brake. Jack 'er back up and find the dang rear shoe has broken and the cable is off it's pin. He loosens up the adjustment, we limp on down the road to Auto Zone for some new shoes. Limp 'er to his house, he tears intot he brakes, while I'm ripping oout the factory air box to install a Spectre higher flow filter, come to find out adapter won't work, even if I drill it, all the factory crap goes back in. meanwhile, he's found the right rear backing plate is bent, causing everything to ride at an angle. Put 'er back together with the adjustment a tad loose.
We clean up the shop, get War$$ loaded on the trailer, I get 'er home, Swamper 'er out, load the bed. Here comes some young kid sweating & walking up the drive. Come to find out there's a house down the hill across the road I didn't even knows was there. He says he always sees me out there working and is trying to change the oil in a S-10 he just bought ($1,200) that someone hit with a deer. He did the ole screwdriver thru the filter and can't get 'er off. I hand him the filter wrenches while he's oohhhin and ahhin my truck and shop. He sweats on off. I get finished with my loadin and think "that guy used a screwdriver to start woth, maybe I better go check on him. Get there it's running and now he's trying to charge an AC system with the compressor not engaging. I find a piece of wire, pull off the plug on the clutch cyclin switch, insert wire to complete circuit, wiggle it around and it engages and startws freezing the can in my hand. When I left it was colder and the pressure was at about 25-30. He's gonna need another can, but it's enough to tease him when it's 98 tomorrow!
I just couldn't see leavin the poor guy without helpin him since so many people have helped me over the years.
Oh, he's also got a F-100 or 150 stepside, I think he said 81 needs a trans and he wants to lower it. I'll have to ask other experts about that one. Told him he better go to PAP and find a tranny because it won't be long that S-10'll crap on him. He siad he couldn't pass it up, it runs, it's legal, got half decent tires and will give him a chance to get his Ford where he wants it. Young guy trying to pursue his plans. I told him Hell I'm 40 and still prusueing mine, it never ends!
Sure ready for TB tomorrow, add a few scratches to Almost Complete and try out that front receiver mud, rock, dirt plow. Got a big feelin that things gonna get modified and stuffed up between the frame rails or redesigned under there. Good idea, hangs TOO LOW!
See all in the morn!
Don't be late, shit we got to go!

Almost Complete lost a fender flare, got a rocker panel bashed in, earned a dent in front of the left taillight from a tree that jump into me, and my alignment is haywire! The Powertrax lockrite performed exceptionally and considering them front and rear in the new axles along with 4.88 and some 37s or more! I will tell ya if you ain;t ready for a workout, don't put one in the front, I was seesawing all day on that steering wheel, looked like Tony Stewart with a bad car set-up! RangerSVT was laughing constantly! But it helped 'er go and go! Them TSL Radials lugs aired to 10psi will sure grab whatever they can and pitch you right where you need to go one way or the other! They sure need to get that testing done and selling some more!!
RangerSVT shot a cool video which I'm sure he'll link in shortly of me Airborning the front end up a rocky hill! Also a lot of cool pics!
Takin a day to relax tomorrow, watch some tube, unload the truck and probably a swim in the pool!
Will get after it again starting monday! Hopefully goin for a DANA44 and other goodies to get that going!

Here is Jay doing a hill climb out at Turkey Bay...

And here is Gregg doing the rock garden...

Thanks, I wanted to get vids of everyone trying the hill climb, but by the time I thought about it, half of the group was already up, and one chose to go around...I will point out that no jeep around us even thought of trying that climb that all the rangers did. Only one of us had to winch that hill, and not because he couldn't get it done, but didn't want to risk more body damage as his was supposed to be a DD:D

Stuff

Well, ain't getting hardly anywhere with the SAS. Still hunting. So, RangerSVT and I took a trip around today. Ate another one of those Whitt's Bar-b-que loaded potatoes, then hit a couple of metal yards. Ha those guys must think there metal is gold, titanium or something. $170+ dollars for enough to make a trucks worth of sliders. I finally persued the go to the scrap yard avenue. First one, no luck they didn't sell. Then we hit the jackpot. City Salvage Hopkinsville, KY $.35 a pound. We got 500+ for $190 something. The Chevy we're using as a parts runner right now was squatin and we took the long way back to his place, because I didn't want no coppers messing with us stuff hanging way out the back! We both have some stuff going on otherwise so going to be a few days. Will post some pics of them as they come along. Some of it was 1/4" thick square tubing, so nothing whimpy here for Almost Complete and RangerSVT.
