Went for a ride yesterday on War$$. Old pic from Apr.

Hit a car show, was actually Shelbyville, TN 200th anniversary party.
Well waking up after a day of riding yesterday, picking up some seat cover in Mcminnville, taking her to Nashville, hitting a bar, a slight stint in the p-lot with 'er, then leaving while she was in the can, riding home 1hr 1/2, drinking a couple margaritas when I got here, I finally made it into the shop about 10 am.
SANY0017.jpg

SANY0013.jpg

I finally installed my aluminum door thresholds to hold down my horrible attempt at new carpet install, don't look so bad now!

SANY0015.jpg

Mudd Flaps gone!

I installed the Redline Tuning hood shocks to get rid of that annoying prop rod. And you can also see my homemade insulated cold air intake tube. Got to figure out something for that behind the grill intake spot though, don't like that and I ain't snorkeling up the Ranger. I'll figure out something when I'm drunk one day.
I'm waiting on another batt recharge for the dang sawzall so I can finish removing that rear sway bar! I wasn't thinking two days ago and filled up the fuel tank, so I decided I wasn't drop that to get to the driver's side end link. So I'm cuttin that joker out!
Oh, had to put a bungy around the batt to act as a hold down till I can get to the parts store and get a real one. Never had one and after bouncing around at TB the other day, and the batt going nuts, good thing all my wiring is still connected!
So I'm about out of new stuff to install. A guy at work told me he has some 1/4" stainless plate and asked if I wanted it! I said "DUH"! so I'm trying to figure out what I'll do with that, something will come to mind, since it's free!
Also got to find them big washers, or maybe use some of that plate to make some spacers for under my front springs.
Also got to install the rear shackles still. Yeah I know I keep saying that!

first off, i love the hood lifts....i want some....

and i finally took my mud flaps off almost 2 weeks ago....( since Rick has wanted me to for over a year )

and this is just a suggestion after you and Rick get the gears done....roadtrip up here one day next week and we can put in the shackles and spacers...

Shackles

Railman,
The hood lifts are from Redline Tuning, come with all hardware, it's truly a bolt on, pop rivet on! I ordered the elites which are the alum ones you see. Over $100, I think. They have a cheaper that was about $80-90, I think again!
Shackles are in! What a nightmare! About two years ago I replaced the rear spring hangers, some Duff poly bushings and new bolts. Well the driver's side went fine, of course, it's the first one I did, always goes that way. Tore into the left, first the spring eye bolt broke at the nut, then I stried to spin the bolt with a breaker bar and a piece of pipe, the dang head sheared off. Well crap. Broke out a drift punch and a big sledge, couldn't drive what was left out. Tried the heat gun, not hot enough. Flew all the way to Hoptown, 45 minutes, just made Lowe's! Got a new bolt, and two bottles of map gas for my little copper tubing pipe sweater!. Flew back home, glad the coppers weren't around, driving my buddies truck, no idea where the ins and regis. is and he's in the Stan! Burnt that joker out, stuffed in an extra bushing I had from the duff spring kit (they send ya so many). Bolted 'er up! Back ends up. Now it looks like I got a street rod 4wd. Gotta figure out something with the front. I think some of that stainless plate is going to get cut into some spaces and welded together. Just got off thetele with RangerSVT and he gave me an idea for shocks.
I'm calling it quits for the day. Up early, come back, load War$$ on the trailer, wait for RangerSVT to call, hitc up and go install some 4.56s. If it takes more than I day, I'll bust home on War$$ and drive Matt's truck till we get 'er done!
No high rider rear pics, ya'll can see it saturday, unless I get the front done too.:headbang::icon_surprised:

Hood pics

Just looking at my own hood pics. I'm thinking some of that Air intake modified insulation would be awesome underhood of my Ranger! Except when I'm trying to wrench something and the sun glares off of it! It's from JC Whitney, that undercarpet insulation with some type of foil backing, comes in a roll, cut to fit, new holders and some 3M glue. Probably some HVAC tape to dress the edges and any splices!
:icon_confused:

Lookin good, and X2 on those hood struts, I'd like a pair myself, well, 3 pair considering I have three 96 rangers:icon_surprised:
SVT

Damn RangerSVT going to have almost $300 in hood shocks.
Here's a link to the page for them. Don't know if I'm suppossed to do this or not? Guess if not Jim will send me a nasty message.

Trailers' hitched, War$$'s loaded and strapped, had two breakfast tacos, ready for a run to RangerSVT for some 4.56s and a Powertrax lock-rite in the front. But, I'm thinking i should have ordered an open carrier so we could put a lock-rite in the back too? Oh well another project, well see how it works with the L/S in the rear.
:icon_confused:

Rick may have some extra clutch plates to stick in the L/S to "firm" it up....

have fun:icon_thumby:

l8r, John

ive got a welded carrier that will work for ya :D

Well, I'm at RangerSVT's finally got the ole rusted DANA 35 apart for ring/pinion, lock-rite! Damn Carrier is stress cracked everywhere! And to boot, my dumb %$#& ordered standard rotation ring&pinion instead of Reverse. So Almost COmplete is not so almost complete anymore. I'm riding War$$ home, get a good nights sleep, be at work at 6:30 am tomorrow, split out of there, come pick up RangerSVT for a trip to Nashville and find a DANA 44!
Yep stay tuned SAS coming up.
No more looking for them dang 3"x13/8 washers, plate welding, front spring spacing!
Probably gonna have 'er in by Sat!
Which definitely means I'm owing RangerSVT free labor for a while on installing his SAS! Or whatever else he comes up with! Except windows or installing insulation or any perverted crap I know Frank the Tank is gonna come up with!
:yahoo::headbang::icon_surprised::shok::icon_hornsup::icon_welder::beer::icon_cheers:

hell....just buy Ricks stuff he has had lying about for over a year....at the rate he's movin on his truck he'll need a wheelchair lift to get in it....:icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

oh well....guess i just have to wheel by myself this weekend......

l8r, John

Hey man, you can wheel with me anytime after monday....... I'm taking a mini vacay from friday night to late monday..

Frank

Railman,
I can't wait to see the look on your face when my SAS pulls up sat! And since Ranger SVT has to almost come right to my house to go there anyway he'll probably be in there with me!
RangerSVT and I discussed me taking his and me buying him another set of axles, but not quite complete and we want to go to PAP just to have fun!! I got the coin to drop, he's got the knowledge to do it, not that I wanted to so soon, it'll just have to get replinished with old parts sale to go back into my retirement fund. I'm still good though.
You're just jealous!
Here's some pics of the day!
SANY0008-1.jpg

SANY0007-1.jpg

XJ '90 pinion, WTF?? at some point with a prior owner we figure someone exploded some gear, had XJ factory mark on the ring gear too. Probably when my diff got all the stress cracks!I know it was that damn sheetrock installer.
SANY0005-1.jpg

I'd say I did most of the work today but that'd be an out and out lie. RangerSVT gettin after it all day!
SANY0004-1.jpg

New lift! It made the front as high as the back and it'll have to do till the Dana 44 is in??? Hope the JY ain't out of 'em!! It's a little rough for steering kinda like a locked front end in a turn, but it's up 'ere!
SANY0002-1.jpg

Crappy DANA 35 TTb stuff that'll be on TRS eventually for sale! BUT NOT YET! I ain't got time right now to deal with parts runnin to the dang post! I'll let everyone know!
SANY0001-1.jpg

Anybody got a boat need an anchor?? The Man, the Myth, the Legend RangerSVT Getin 'er done! Ranger of the month guy! Awesome Brother, will really help ya out! Even when ya bring 'em rusted, stress cracked, bolts ain't comin out, studs break off for the shock mount, My jack Ass ordered the standard rotatin ring & pinion for a Reverse rotating assembly, junk to work on!! The decidin factor in "we don't need the crap, let's SAS It"!
SANY0009-1.jpg

Powertrax Lock-rite, it's installed, we ain't taking it out, so it comes matched to the 4.56s, take it or leave it! Them damn springs flat sux!
Oh I almost forgot to mention, I did get to drive 'er today after all was done. Some reason we couldn't push it forward to close the shop. So w/Rangersvt balancing the front end on a block of wood on a floor jack, I climbed my big butt in, fired 'er up and made it about a foot forward! The brakes wasn't working and steering was all up to RangerSVT on the ground. Teamwork gets 'er done! Don't let anyone tell ya ya don't learn anything in the army or on the fire department!
That's the daily update, stay tuned for more of the RangerSVT and Jay'94 insanity show with Almost Complete!!
