Ak907Girl got a truck for her birthday!!

At the very least sell the ranger to a salvage yard. You are bound to get $2-$300 for it and they tow it away for free as I have experienced. Don't give it to a mechanic that will fix it for a a couple hundred bux and sell it for $2k...

Lol Alaskans are so cocky.

A 2wd will never handle as good as a 4x4. I don't care how good of a driver you are.

I don't know about that ..... I would have agreed with you before I bought my dually ...... it goes through the snow just fine.

good job on your purchase ......... now lets see how long you keep it .......

but a 4x4 dually would be better!:icon_thumby:

again we are in agreement ....... but 2wd does just fine....... to tell the truth on it ..... I pull more 4wds out of snow banks and ditches than 2wds .........

4wd does not mean you can stop ... or turn .........

Ah, greed...agreed...

That's half or more of your first month payment...must be nice to be able to give money away...lol

Either way...congratulations...I expect we won't be seeing much of you from here on in...but stick around...there is a big truck forum here...hopefully you won't need any help with it at least until it's paid for and you have your first child...:icon_thumby:

4wd makes you cocky, that's why I wrecked my Jeep, cause I was showing off doing something I shouldn't have done. Although I will agree that 4x4 vehicles are more fun.

Nice rig!

A little common sense, good snow tires (and sometimes a good set of chains) and your 2wd will be fine in the snow.

Hey happy bday and congrats!

Won't be long before that "new" feeling is gone and it's just another check to write though!:yahoo:

With my experience driving a 4x4 vs. 2wd.... I prefer the 2wd.

You guys forget I grew up on snowy icey winter and dirty dry rutted pot holed roads in Alaska. I've been in stuck trucks in rivers, mud, and all over the back roads of Alaska. (I know how to break a 100 ft old tree in half with a tow strap and a truck. lol my dad is an Alaskan Redneck for sure.)

Alaska is a lot more Redneck'n Country than you might think. :icon_thumby:

I'm loving my new truck and can't wait to do some tinting and custom stuff.

And don't worry I asked about every detail on my loan and my warrenty and all the stuff. I was at the dealership for.......... 4.5-6 hours? lol

I been drivin in snow/ice covered roads, mud back roads, fields etc since I was 12. I'll agree 2wd us more FUN. But, a 4x4 will always go further than a 2wd. Unless you have a retard in the 4x4.

Why settle for ONLY 2wd when you can have 4x4 and 2wd. Leave it 2wd till your stuck. Drop it in 4hi and drive out instead if hooking up a row strap and pulling.

Wanting a 2wd over a 4x4 will never make sense to me unless you meet leave pavement.

As for Lilly...... She's going to be hauled off... sadly it's time to say good bye. I tried advertising her on craigslist and got no bites, BUT there is a local mechanic who hauls off vehicles for free and that seems like its the best bet. I will be posting a lot more pictures!

Down here it is worth $220 a ton for scrap...

These "nice" people that haul off iron for free burn me, they are basically stealing it from people that don't know it is worth something.

U-Pull-It type operations pay a couple hundred bucks for a decentish vehicle as well.

still in agreement ........ but 99% of people don't need a 4wd ....... 50% of them I would not trust with a lawn mower....... but an Alaskan that grew up driving snow and ice would just fine with a 2wd....... Hell .... we drove out to Arizona in a rented Mustang and took it on roads that would stop alot of stock 4wds ..........
