Hey folks,

For years now I"ve been using the cheapo molded quick-connectors that came with my compressor (you know the ones with the mold line down the center that leaks air if you don't hold them in just the right position?) Well, they've gotten to the point where they can actually pop free, leaving an open air-hose flying around the garage like a loose fire-hose. So, I'm looking for a higher quality set of quick-connects. Anyone have any recommendations on brands, where to find them, etc.? I'm looking for some nice machined ones that I can connect and forget, the way they're supposed to work. Maybe a swivel or two as well...

Any recommendations? Thanks!

Yep. Go down to Grainger, Fastenal, your local welding shop, or other favorite local industrail shop. Bring the parts you need replaced in, and the guys behind the counter can (hopefully) get what you need.

Steve's Wholesale Tools. They pretty much have every attachment that I needed when it came down to repairing air lines in the shop. The couplers lasted a good deal and took abuse from everyday use.

A flying hose? It is best to have the female coupler attached to the air supply and the male adapter to the air hose or air tool.

Milton, even my town of 750's hardware store carries them, that's all I have or have used.

Great, thanks guys.

I didn't think I'd have much luck at lowes/homedepot, and the junk I have now came from sears... We do have a fastenal that happens to be pretty near work - I'll run out there Monday and look for Milton. I've got a Grainger catalog at work too, but this is the sort of thing I'd rather see in person first. Thanks again!

Oh - and I DO have the female side on the hose... It's just old/cheap enough that it wound up stuck open when the male end popped out. No worries - I'll be getting a new female coupler or two as well.

Is there any "pro" site out there that list the different types of air hose quick disconnects?

Because I've gotten some different disconnects with tools, basically the same shape, just a shorter length making them incompatible with the Milton kind.

Any sites that explain the differences?

I have some QD fittings from Harbor Freight. They work fine and look identical to the ones I got from grainger.

I have a bunch of the HF connectors. They work, but I've had problems with them failing (just cracking and leaking). I bought them because they were cheap and at the time I didn't have much to spend. But I'm slowly upgrading to better connectors.
