Additional Income

The items mentioned earlier were just the quick and easy stuff.
Look long term also.
I was lucky that my Dad was in Real Estate and helped me buy a few houses.
The plan was to rent them out to make the payments.
Had to keep the day job because not every month (or year even) was break even.
As they got paid off we used the sudden increase to make other investments...some worked and some didn't.
Condos in Lewisville were a real learning experience.
Biggest result is that all my brothers and family live in totally paid off houses,
have a nice income that allows us to get ahead and we can jump when a good deal appears.
How often have YOU come across a killer deal, but had no money?

I could live off the current income from our investments but it is more fun to allocate those funds to create new investments or provide for retirement.
I tried for a while, but I went crazy with nothing to do so I delivered pizza for
a bit of pocket money.

This spring I plan an experiment in starting with 0 dollars, no car and spare time to earn a living.

This will be my 4th financial persona!

Money is a game, know the rules and play to win!!

I started out good making good money off my first house, but lost my second house during divorce/bancruptcy/foreclosure.

My credit sucks right now. My credit dropped 7 points this summer (still above 660) after I tried to co-sign for a Ford loan for Vanessa since I have a Ford Lease and the Ford Dealer ran me through (7) lenders for credit and I got turned down. I told him to only run it through Ford Credit because I was trying to repair my credit and didn't think I'd get approved and didn't want all the negative inquiries.

Renting sucks. You're just throwing money away. I need to be patient to get my credit fixed. I think they suggest waiting 24-months after a forclosure to try and get another mortgage. The only thing I hate is not having a garage. There's not one with the house I rent. If I had a garage I'd be content for a while.

I stop :threadjacked:

back to the original topic...........

I seriously started putting effort this year in to TRS Fab to supplement my retirement. Even if I sell a part and only make a $3 or $10 profit, it eventually adds up and helps.

Side note: I rent a 3 bedroom apartment with a 1 car garage. I needed room for my tools and storage.

Need any help with TRS fab stuff?

Hehehe...what is TSC?

I do window cleaning although with winter approaching I quit until spring. It relates to my normal business but I do the windows myself and don't pay anyone else to do it. Good equipment doesn't cost too much (get Unger) and you just need a bucket, water, and a few drops of Dawn and your ready to go. The technique you pick up on. Still using my first bottle of Dawn from three years ago. Commercial windows are already done but not too many people do residential so that's where I fit in. $1.50 per pane and it adds up nicely.
There is also money to be made in painting.
The two above are good if you want to work mostly under-the-table. I'm legit, I don't have a choice. If you're pretty handy, just get an evening job at Lowe's or Home Depot if you want something legit.

Ask me what I won't do for a profit. I was working for a distributer to the auto industry, so naturally I started to see less and less in the way of commission thanks to our wonderful economy. At that time, I was working on the side doing handyman work. Knowing that I very skilled with my hands and since I already had a business background, I decided to go into business for myself. I do mostly landscaping and hardscapes (decorative concrete, masonry, retaining walls, ect.) but I am becoming more of a general contractor.

Right now, I'm just waiting on the snow so I can get out of the house and start plowing.
