Main pressure fuel line is built and and I did flush it out.

In a previous life when I was building hydraulic hoses I would just blow them out with the shop air.

I know my compressor doesn't compare to that one but it the little rubber bits inside the hose didn't seem to want to get blown out this time.

I really don't want them to stick an injector since this is all downstream from the filter...

I got the main pressure fuel line installed between the fuel filter and the TB. Got a wild hair and test fit the air filter housing:



It cleared the throttle linkage but did hit the throttle cable bracket so to do it right I will need a spacer. It is very close to working and really looks seated from above.

I also noticed the TB doesn't have anything to engage the tabs on the air filter base to locate the air filter housing.



Keyed on the fuel pump to test it. Ran great until it started circulating and the pump quit. Checked the fuse and it popped so I put my tester on it and it was drawing 7.2A which explains why the 5A fuse popped. Stuck a 10A fuse in it and ran great...



I checked things topside all seemed well... but then I could hear fuel dripping down below so I killed power to the pump. It is leaking at the inlet to the filter. At first I was scared I was going to have to drop the tank because that is just behind the tank (front of the tank is about centered on the filter) then I just got to thinking in the shower I could remove the filter and move it ahead and pick on the hoses. If it is a issue with the seal at the fittings it should be easy to deal with. If its the hose connection it could get entertaining.

Blue dust cover is back on lol until I get that sorted out lol.

I need to do the fuel pump wiring and the efan wiring and get the coil in it. I feel like I have been saying that for two weeks but I keep finding these other little side adventures to do that are a time suck.

Thinking more about it and how quick it would boil fuel out of the carb... a spacer to help keep heat off the ECM and to increase airflow under that air filter housing probably wouldn't be the worst thing.

I tried the 1/2" thick phenolic spacer I have ran since forever, it pushed the air cleaner assembly into the firewall. I had a 1/4" thick Edelbrock one and it fit perfectly.

My fittings also showed up so I have the PCV and brake booster hoses ran.

It worked great loosening the clamp and sliding the fuel filter ahead. That fitting was loose. Tried the fuel pump again and noted it was not spraying on the fuel tank but it was leaking from above the fuel tank as well. Thanks to the bodylift I was able to easily reach in from the front, disconnect the pressure fitting from the pump and access. It was also finger tight.

I remember it was late when I built that hose but I honestly don't remember ever thinking "ok I need to go back and tighten these up" Honestly I usually wouldn't even leave it in unless it was ready.

Also wire wheeled and threw some paint on the coil bracket so I can get that wrapped up tomorrow night maybe.

That fitting was loose.

It was also finger tight.

Your helper hasn't developed good tightening torque yet. He's just too young and small. Ya gotta go behind him and torque stuff.

We are getting dangerously close to firing this thing up.

I got the coil in it and plugged in, CAN/Bluetooth module is routed into the cab and the front right wheel is ready to go back on last night.

Weather is going to be a buzzkill for awhile though, 30's and 40's at night isn't ideal wiring temps.

Try 100F-110F ambient temperature, me and you both. Its either too hot (in my case) or too cold.

Get it done bruh im sitting here doing all my maintenance waiting to see how the Aces works for you. Its a lot of money to spend when i can do a simple carb set up for less then 200$ but i want all the bells and whistles and rather let computer do all the work, i keep losing my flathead anyways…

I wanna run the 2300 style 2BBL EFI. Really have high hopes considering everyone goes 4 barrels with great results, from what ive seen. I don't plan on pushing HP, im looking for reliability and practicality.

Edit: carb vs efi from what i read, is based on personal preference. Atleast for this year/ generation. They work vastly differently and it really depends on what your after at the end of the day.

No need to spend 800$+ for a EFI system if your happy with how its running factory, i just want more tuning fidelity and that “WOW” factor. Plus im young i can spend the money, its a good tool to learn and progress on vehicle mechanics.

2 years ago i didnt know a THING about this truck and now i know it inside and out, no issues here servicing it.
