A4LD won't downshift when floored

I have a number of issues with my A4LD (there's a surprise!), but for today, this one . . .

When driving along in a given gear greater than 2nd (including OD) and I floor the gas pedal to get passing-type power and speed, the tranny does NOT kickdown/downshift a gear. It used to. (It shifts up and down under normal conditions A-OK.) What might be causing this problem? Thanks.

Check your kickdown linkage at the throttle linkage at the motor or down at the driver side of transmission.
