a4ld syptoms narrowed down

At first I thought that when the tranny went into od it would free rev, now I realize that , when I put it in od like normal it goes through all gears fine, its when I step on the gas hard like in passing gear that it free revs. If I drive normal it goes along fine. I drove over 110 miles in od , up hills etc no problem. only when putting in passing gear . it wont go from od to a lower gear? after doing this if I stop put the trans in reverse then back into od it will act normal ??
