My 1993 has an A4LD that's going down the toilet pretty quickly. Took it somewhere about 5000 miles ago for a "rebuild" that sucked. It leaks, it slams into reverse hard when it's cold and slips when it gets hot. Pulled the pan off about a month ago and pan was full of glitter. I plan on most likely just finding another A4LD to rebuild and throwing it in, but I don't want it to overheat like my current one does. Is there any known mods or upgrades or whatnot I could do to improve cooling? Any and all input is appreciated.

5000 miles? I would take it back for warranty work. Adding a secondary transmission cooler is good for any automatic.

Like @tinman_72 suggested, use dual coolers (add a second cooler); it has 2 benefits, it improves the cooling potential and the amount of fluid in the system.

I had a whole long thing typed out and it disappeared… I don’t have time to retype it all now, that should get you started
