I replaced my 1991 4.0 ranger tranny with a differ used tranny that posably has the short pilot TC
.,Is that a bad thing i didnt know there was two versions till after the fact.
Could it make the front seal leak?
I just got the transmission in and Geez that was a job, afterwords started the engine and got it warm, got the mercron5 just about hot and on the mark and then the fluid starts streaming out hard between block and trans as soon as the drive train reached operating temperature?
Note: Not a drop till about 10 min then it starts.
I was told its probably the from main seal That the leak was coming from.
is this the correct part? http://www.makcotransmissionparts.com/56070A.html
Iv checked vent hole and cooler lines up to the out on secondary cooler goin back to return on tranny with no blockage and good presure..
And how critical is torque converter to fly wheel nut torque. I didnt use a torque wrench, may i have bent it?..
What about the bellhouse bolts,, I got them as tight as tight as i could get them, one of the top two bolts is a regular bolt without the fat end,, It couldnt shift or move coulld it being its sitting on dows pegs?
...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
OK,, im bout over it. New plan
Im gonna get
New front seal
new thicker type flywheel
new block/flywheel spacer plate
torque wrench
floor jack transmission adapter kit.
hope for the best on the bell bushing.
and try again.
I need a new set of bellhouse bolts.. anyone know from were to get them?
and will hurt anything to roll tranny over on its side to get pan off to replace filter?
