a4ld bellhousing

I need to change the trans in my 85 with a 2.8.
I can get one from a 87 2.9.
Are the bellhousings the same?
And which torque converter do I use?

Not stupid questions. The bellhousing bolt pattern is the same. I can't help on the rest tho. maybe someone else will....Have you checked the tech section?
