A Good Explaination Why 5.4l 3 Valve Cam Phasers Fail

I have heard the problems with the 5.4l 3 valve engines. Dave gives a clear explaination of why.

2v did continue on longer in SD and way longer in vans.

I dd a 2v for 17 years and 175k, it had 200k when I updated to a 2016 with a Coyote.

I have yet to regret bypassing the 3v era.

I get a chuckle at u pull it. Usually lots of pretty solid 3v trucks there that probably got junked for the engines... and the engines are always gone. Presumably yoinked by people hoping it is better than what they have.
