A dying squirrel?

Damn that sounds terrible, I started laughing because that does sound like a dying squirrel. Mine didn't sound that bad, but ya, it's the cam syncro, almost guarantee it. If I were you, i'd pay the extra and buy it from Ford. People have said bad things about the dorman cam syncros. I replaced the camshaft position sensor that sits on top of the cam syncro while I was back there. FYI, your dealership has the special tool, they let me borrow it for free, maybe they aren't suppose to, but I know most of 'em by name. If you need any help there are plenty of threads on this and most of us with 3.0's have already swapped it, don't wait to long to do it!

Yup. Sounds like the cam synchro. I read somewhere that Dorman corrected the problems but I couldn't remember where I read it so I got the Ford also. If you can change out a distributor, you can change out the cam synchro without a hitch.

haha thanks for atleast telling me what it is and im glad you enjoyed the dying squirrel. Well im gonna do it tomorrow, if i can get the parts. just out of curiosity how long did it take for you to fix yours?

Not long, it's just a pain in the ass, read up on it in some of the older threads. If you don't get it right, your engine will be off.
