99 ranger face lift

you shouldnt have to mess with the gas tank to get the 63's in. its tight getting bolts in there but if you take the bed off its not to bad. congrats on the win

Thanks

I'm probably going to weld the hangers on. That why I'm concerned about the tank. If I mount under the frame rails though it's probably going to be fine I guess.

Mine are only held on with 3 bolts in the gas tank side. Because i couldn't get the 4th in. Gonna have to drop the tank I guess. Be VERY careful when drilling. The fuel lines are right inside that frame rail.

Contemplating just taking the tank out and mounting a fuel cell. Then I won't have to worry about sh**.

Harder to smog a fuel cell but i recall you living in an area where smog isn't an issue?

Wrap masking tape up the drill bit so you dont plunge into the tank. And slide some sheet metsl between the fuel lines and frame

Nope no smog. The day I have to smog my truck is the day I greensticker it.

What a great job!!
After nearly a 30yr absence from wheelin, finally got to last weekend with my Son. Had a lot of looks, as our '94 ranger is stock, all Jeeps in the group. Well the Ranger earned it's stripes, as we only need one tug, got high centered, and made the whole day issue free.
So, that got me a thinkin!! I just so happen to have a '79 doner F-150 for our current build, and with this fine job you have done, has given us the push to make a serious wheelin rig out of the Ranger!!
By this time next year, should be done..... I hope.
Here is our current project, frame up resto on a '79 F-150 4x4, was Grandpa's rig!!

Sounds like a good start to a fun project. I'm more than willing to try and answer any questions you have. There is a lot of nice rigs on this forum to get Ideas off of. My first suggestion would be, since you have a bear frame to work with, box it in. I'm glad I could give someone some inspiration. Good luck.

My truck is handling like crap. It dive witch ever direction I'm turning in. I'm running out of ideas. It started the day I installed new ball joints. I've already tour everything back apart only to find that they are installed perfectly. I replaced my steering box and even redid my steering linkage and then took it to get aligned. All the play and bump steer is gone now but it still wants to dive on me. Kind of stuck on what it could be. My next guess would be the rear end because its welded (handled fine before the ball joints) maybe new shocks or I need to install some sway bars (not going to happen)

Any ideas or input would be awesome.

Did u check the tires? I would look into the balljoints again since u said it started when u change the out.

A steering stabilizer might fix some of the wondering also or is it steering on it own?

I do need to reinstall the steering stabilizer. If I am taking a turn over 30mph it dives in that direction causing me to have to correct buy turning the opposite direction ever so slightly. its REALY bad on the freeway. Constantly wandering. People tell me its because of the big tires. I've been driving a truck with big tires since I've been aloud to drive. Its worse then that. My mechanic said the worm gear in my steering box may be too tight. I'm not too convinced on that. It seems to center itself fine at low speed. I'm baffled.

What angle did you set your knuckles at when you did your sas? IIRC they're supposed to be ster from 6-8 deg with 7 being optimal. I know if they're not at the right angle it will do exactly what you're experiencing.

I went 5 deg back. Thats what was recomended to me. adjusting it couldn't hurt. Thanks Rowdy.
