So I start replacing my ball joints today. I have a question about the lower ball joint's. Since it's a torsion bar setup, what is the lower control arm going to do when I take off the castle nut? Does the torsion bar have a lot of tension on the lower control arm and is it going to shoot down or is it going to stay right where it's at? Sorry if it seems like a stupid question but this is my first 4x4 let alone Ranger.

If u let the shock attached to the lower arm it cant go anywhere. I dont know how far it would drop if it wasnt attached, so i would put a jack under it to be safe

It won't go anywhere, but it is best to support it with a jackstand if at all possible.

Thanks for the help but I figured it out. I just used a jack and an extension to take the tension off the torsion bar and unbolted the adjusting bolt.
