It is my brother in laws truck, its a 98 Ranger, 3.0, 2wd, automatic transmission (not sure which one). He was pulling out and the truck was sluggish and finally jerked into gear. Felt like it was just revved and dropped in gear. The OD light was flashing and the cruise control and speedometer were not working. When he got home he drove it around the block to test it and it all went back to working. Also the box on the fender that goes between the throttle body and the cruise control was too hot to touch. Would really like to figure out what went wrong before takes it off very far. Any input would be highly appreciated.
