I just snagged the F150 front spring risers and some 97 explorer leafs from the local pull and save. I have my 97 ranger 4x4 apart. The swaybar links and shocks are detached. I cannot get the spring out and can't imagine how I will get it back in, when I get it out, with the reduced space after installing the F150 risers. I could use some help. If I push down on the spindle it does not go down much further. Thanks for everyone's help ahead of time.

Happy Holidays,
Al

Undo the big nut that is at the bottom of the coil right in the middle. You will need an 1 1/8" wrench and some muscle to get it off. The the lower coil seat will be free and the axle beam will drop more. You can then twist the coil from the upper bucket.

Agreed, ^^^^^ the coil is spun into place at the top and once the lower retaining nut is tightened it will not move. I would soak it with some pb blaster a few times a day and wait over night then go at it. I jacked my Axle up so using an extension I was able to get a socket down there with and extension and used a breaker bar and she came free pretty easy.

Thankyou

Thanks guys. It worked great. I got it apart and the spacers added. Funny thing though, the shock is not long enough to attach when I lift the front axle up till it comes off the jack stands. The travel of the stock shock is 10"-14". I believe I would need something that goes 12"-16" to stay in the middle of travel. Which shock should I use? Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Al

i used some stock Jeep TJ shocks for my spacer lift.....( i asked for 99 model year ).....were plenty long enough....
