the rear axle went out in my 2wd 1996 3.0 ranger lat night. i have never felt so much vibration and noise :icon_surprised:

there is a pull a part down the road with 20 or so rangers in it and more explorers. what years will fit my 96?

thanks
chris

The only thing I can Garuntee is '93-97 Rangers (the exact same body style as yours). Those axles are beyond a shadow of a doubt bolt in.

There might be a minute pinion angle differences (little enough to not make much of a difference) but I'd try first to get one of the same body style (cab and bed length), if the ratio's don't match the current axle then go for one of the other ones.

The Explorer axles will not bolt right in. Similar width and parts, but the suspension is arranged slightly different.

Hey check this link out it might help you out.

And if I was looking for a new axle I would look for a Axle out of 4x4 so You can get a higher ratio and limit slip. and as the article states any axle from 93+ ranger should fit.
