A few months ago I stalled out in a toll booth (embarrassing, I know). I tried to restart and she wouldn't fire. Turned over and over, but no fire. After a minute or two of sitting, waiting, and trying again it finally started.
Last week I pumped gas at the gas station and jumped back in to go again and truck did the same thing - turned again and again, but no fire. Had to wait almost 15-minutes before she fired up again (just before I called for a tow).
Yesterday I stopped to drop a movie off at the library and had to stop the truck (e-brake sticks). I jumped out and jumped back in almost knowing that it wouldn't start for me. Sure enough. Nothing. Cranks and cranks and cranks, but no fire. I heard from a buddy of mine that it might be the fuel pump relay. I didn't take time to check which one was the FP relay, I just swapped the three around and slammed the hood nice and hard. Truck started right up. Drove to the parts store to pick up a new relay to keep in the glove box, but forgot my wallet and left the parts store empty handed.
Today I left church and went to a viewing at the local funeral home. Paid my respects quickly and came back out and the truck wouldn't start (again). Minutes before the tow truck arrived (I did swap the relays again, hoping this was it), I tried "one-last-time" and she fired up!
Can anyone tell me what's going on here? It feels like that first immediate-try to start the truck back up there's a bit of hesitation at the "usual" crank-spot and I let-off before the truck turns "all the way" over.
When I got home from the funeral home after my near-interaction with the $75 tow-fee (I called them off, by the way) I did some trouble-shooting by starting and stopping the truck a few times. I felt the hesitation but just kept cranking-through and she started up.
