I came across this truck for $150.00. It ran solid. It needed a new battery cable and fuel neck hose and some vacuum lines squared away.

So I bring it home and strip it. I bought a set of Deavers for $150.00 and I had a set of 14" Race Runners sitting in the garage. The next day.. It sits here.

I still need to put the bed back on and mount the resi's as well as limit straps.

Then I spent 2 days building the front. The whole time I am keeping my budget in mind. So I opted to extend the stock radius arms. Do heim steering outers. Use XJ coils. I do not believe in drop brackets although I was a bit puzzled on the TTB setup. I had build several 2wd I beam trucks in the past but nothing with a diff and axles stuffed into it. Heres where it sits now..

So far I have about 500 in, including the price of the truck. The tires were free. I got the wheels for installing a muffler. I got the bed cage for letting someone use the bender. The shackles are just drop shackles for a silverado. That I will be plating. I have the bedsides ready to go onto the bed and back on the truck. The bedsides I had sitting around off of an old truck.

I have the interior stripped at the moment. I will be tearing into a cab cage and working my way back.

Then I will be rebuilding the front end. 4" over D35/D44 hybrid TTB's trussed and plated. On 14" Saws and single swing steering. But my priorities are the cage. Safety first.

My current front end is a cut and turn. I did a cut and turn near the beam pivot as well as a lower ball joint extension. I have my own theorys and beliefs for doing this.

Thanks man, I got some more work done today. I'll post some more pictures..

Has anyone welded a 8.8 diff? Do the 31 spline axles hold up to it?

Wow. You really got a budget prerunner there. Keep it up.

Yeah. My main reason for the build was that I came across the truck for cheap. I've been pondering the idea of having a 4x4 for the dunes so I decided to build it.

Plus the wife is pissed my 2000 4 door Ranger is still not finished. So I need something to get her back into the sport so I can begin spending money on the other truck.

Hopefully next week I can finish the cage and front shock mounts so I can take her out.

Whoa, that's wicked. PS we need to see pics of the 4-door:D

Its not a full crew cab imported Ranger but it still has four doors. Its current state is a cab, a 302, fiberglass sitting on the ground. :icon_rofl:

I still want to see it!

I welded up my explorer 8.8 diff... sorry I can't tell if it's a good idea or not yet, but everything I read on it seemed positive! I think it's the carrier that'll break anyways, not an axle

Man!!! Me and the cats like, Bro!!!! I can't wait to see it finished!!!

I skinned a bed and cut out for my shocks and shackles. Then I mounted fiberglass fenders to it and assembled everything onto the truck.

Then I am getting the interior prepped for a 1.75 DOM cage with aluminum dash.

Darn.....too bad you had to put that bed on there and ruin showing off all that great tube work and welding!!!! A flat bed would be so cool with that blue color...but....oh, well...it is your truck....hey wait...move over...I'm driving....lol

Don't forget to ditch the auto hubs if your gonna wheel it. They are very prone to grenading when you need them most.

Looks good! Not only is your build budget, but is on a timely schedule too, I like that. Most builds take forever....including my own. Keep up the good work!
