94 b4000 axle swap/offroad build

so it look's like im gonna have to strap up the front end of the truck and move it back into the garage (no trac bar). last week we had pretty nice weather and i did all the work in the driveway. saturday it started snowing again and hasnt let up a bit. i was hopin it would all pass by early next week but it look's like we'll be gettin it thru the whole week. guess i'm the dummy for thinkin summer was finally arriving. shoulda known better.

to make matter's worse the B2 is sittin next to my truck (blockin the garage door) with the steering disassembeled. I'm gonna try and back it straight back and hope she pull's stright forward again but we'll have to see.

i don't even wanna hear it.. i don't even have a roof of any time to get under to work on my piece of junk! lol.. but then again, it was 76 degrees today w/ a nice slightly cool breeze.

get that b2 done man!

yeah but you do have access to a nice paint booth which i dont. as for the B2 ive put too many hour's into that truck workin solo and it's not even mine. i'm kinda burned out workin on it alone, not to mention workin on my brother's K-5. i have been trying to focus on workin on my truck and giving them a hand if they are around. when my truck was in my garage last they were just bout fighting who could pull in when mine went out. once mine left i told them they had two week's till mine came in. no truck has been in the garage since.

kinda funny story to add to that. my truck is the only one that can drive in and out (on 37's) the b2 when it was on 33's rubbed the door severley. and the k-5 rub's when on rim's. mine just brush's the door lightly.

you sir-- need a taller garage.

and right now i don't have access to a paint booth- the shop paint booth's roof got taken off by a storm last week. lol, it'll be fixed tho.

i actually sprayed my truck in the shop- not the paint booth, there was a semi in the booth getting sprayed and i was running out of free time to get my b2 done so we did what we did where we could..

plan's are in the work's for a taller garage. and a second story for storage.
as for sparying stuff i do it in my grimy garage using garbage can's to set the stuff on. needless to say a show quality paint job isnt in my truck's near future. i may spray it as some point but that will be after the cab swap.

you could do it the way brayD did his with the swingout carrier, i dunno if this one is his or not but its similar.

I don't have a spare tire carrier. I was just reading through this and was like, "hmm, I really need to get a spare and find a way to mount it." Then I saw where you posted that I already have one. Thought it was kinda funny.

Carry on. :D

Thats on my todo list still, a swing out tire carrier.

well i'm slowly transitioning to dirt bike's for the next few month's again. just dropped a nice chunk of change on all new controll's for the bike. and started my spring prep. finally stepin up to the big boy bar's and ditching the 7/8 jobber's got a nice set of 50mm riser's, all new bark buster's/flag guard's to go with the bar's new number plate and so on. next on the order look's like new front and rear fender, and chain and sprocket. hopefully that will have me good for most the summer. will need to get new break pad's but there's still plenty of meat on em

You need better influences. I was gonna drop a good chunk of change on my bike too then NMB2 convinced me to get a hydro assist kit. I guess the bike can wait. lol

good influence is hard to find when all my wheelin buddy's are also my ridin buddy's.
Most of them are in full swing and a couple allready have their first ride of the seasone. heck one has been riding since feb* aparentely there is a 20 mile loop bout an hour away that is managable all year due to the dense wood's(he's also an ice racer). however you wont find me out there in the dead of winter. i need to get my riding in before the kid come's. then i might have no choice but to stick around the house and work in the garage. Have no fear. bout august i get back into the truck thing once i get burned out riding.

i wanna get out and go wheeling so bad but font have time to go due to i work nights and nowhere close other then by the river where i was, but was fun for getting the truck dirty for the first time.

I wanna get another classic motor bike and restore it, i miss my first one i had, sold it to do my engine swap.

I'll sell the truck before the bike at this point in time. Not that i dont like my truck just have WAY more invested into bike's. I will never be able to get away from trucks' and wheelin. At this point i dont plan on gettin rid of either. hopefully next spring i'll get a new truck, lookin for somethin a lil bigger. thinking a gas 2500 (chev or ford I dont care) crewcab longbox with a 5 speed. MOTOHAULER!!!! and a tow rig if my truck ever get's to that point.

truck is alomost all back together. pic's to follow. and they are sayin more snow so i guess there is a good chance that i'll have the truck out quite a bit more before i can do some serious riding.

smoked an axle bearing friday night runnin around town. got it home and started tearin the axle apart. today i got the new bearing's and put it all back together. that put me in a good mood to work on the truck so I accomplished alot tonight.

Now it's 5:00 am so gimme a break if my typing doesnt make sense.
i straightened the 4wd shift linkage out sense when the front shaft blew off it tweaked the linkage pretty good. (sorry no pic's of this)
I attempted to put a different shaft on the front but needed to chase the thread's. tried to chase the thread's but snapped off my tap. aparentely they were more boogered than I thought. I will swap a different one tomorrow.
On Board Air is 98% done. all i need to do is address the incoming air (oiler/filter). I also need to finish up the wiring in the Tool box since i ran the wire's for my reverse light's in the same run. the A/C compressor fill's the 2 gallon tank in just shy of a min and fill's a 37x14x15 from 0 psi to 35 psi in just over 5 min's i am pretty happy with the result's. i've heard that you dont wanna run these at any higher rpm's than idle, but i'm really curious what it'll put out at say 2500rpm's

And here's the pic's i previously promised. to bring everything up to date.

steering pretty close to the same angle, length, and even location.

added a support to the trac bar as well. guess you can call it a giant turnbuckel. it's only ran in single shear but it's better than nothing

OBA
interior switch is the lower (right) switch. now i just need to think of something to run next to it. above those are the switche's for my winch. the left one is just an arming switch so i dont bump the control switch (upper right) while driving down the road.

and a couple of the body as i really do need to address protecting it. she's gettin pretty beat up now.

roof from my garage being soo short. the deep gouge is from my shovel gettin wedged between the roof and a hard spot and not letting off the gas. I stoped puttin it on the top of the head ache rack after that one.

I think it might be time for some slider's

and a good shot of my door. (big scratche's dent's are from a rail road crossing sign (dont ask) and then of course the small scratch's from runnin down narrow trail's.

well took her out in the wood's over the weekend it did amazing. hopefully i will be able to get some pic's pretty quick here as I didnt have the camera with me but one of my buddie's took some pic's. only had to unspool the winch once and that was to pull an amigo up a hill. i wouldnt say it walked everywhere cuz I did my share of struggling. the ground is finally thawing and the trail's are greasy. OBA has came in incredibly handy. used the impact more than i ever woulda thought. it's great for around the yard and what not.
Yet again I am reminded that I hate washing out the back of my truck and everything that make's it's way back there. worked on sealing it up today. slid the toolbox back and put some weather stipping on the front of the box and bolted it back into place. hopefully tomorow i will have a good start on the mini toneau cover for it. I picked up some material for a fullsize toneau for free this winter. planin on building a frame put some plywood over it and staple the material over that. need to plan to have some arch built in so the mud/water dosnt just sit ontop of it.
