I just bought a 93 Explorer Sport 4.0 5-speed 2wd, and everything works perfect, but the gas gauge doesn't work...I checked if there was a fuse for it, but I didn't find one.The needle moves to 1/8 tank when the key is off, but when the key is on/running it goes back to empty. I just filled it on the way home so yes there is gas lol So what else should I check? I'm thinking the connections on the gas tank? thanks guys

The float has sunk. This question gets asked three or four times a week.

i have the same problem in my bII. i just deal with it, ive already pulled the tank to replace my fuel pump which sucked!

So can i just replace the float? or is it all one unit? I don't want to have to yank it all out and find out i need a whole new unit

You can change just the float, an appropriate size cork or the float from an xj will work. Check the wires and sending unit first but it's usually the float.

There's a little circuit board that wears out where the float rubs on it to get your variable resistance .On the b2's and explorers I believe in cutting a hole to access the sending unit way easier and it makes sense to look and see what you need pull your panel back out and fix it when your prepared.Plus when you loose you pump in some cold nasty place it makes fixing it there more practical.
