Hi, new here, been reading it for a while though.
I currently have the tank out of my 92 Ranger SC 4x4 4.0l mt truck on my buddies hoist.
I had to pull and drain the tank due to crummy gas. The other reason I dropped tank is like others, the fuel guage doesnt work. I plugged the sending unit back in after tank was out, and worked the float with the key on and the guage just stayed pegged over the full mark. I then took and made a new ground for the sender, and t-spliced it in, and tried again. soon as key on, the guage pegged to over full, and when the float was moved. it only moved guage to just a little over the "F".
Previously, no matter how much fuel in tank, the guage would move back and forth while running and never really do the same thing twice.
Could it be the guage in the cluster? I am at work right now, but I have another cluster in my replacement cab(Future mods) in the driveway that I am going to swap out tonite.
Could someone give me a walk through on the test procedure? I am fairly mechanically inclined, electrical just makes my head hurt.
Sorry first post so long, this has been bugging me for a while.
